Ready to dig deep, really deep, for a tiny but magnificent OLED television? You'd better be 'cause some purportedly leaked Sony documents are showing a new "KDL-ZX Series OLED" on the 2010 / 2011 roadmap. All the sets are listed as prototypes so they may or may not make it to market for retail. But with Sony's two year old, 11-inch XEL-1 OLED TV now dwarfed by LG's new 15-inch OLED TV and a 20-incher promised for 2010, well, we expect Sony will want to regain its leadership in the new year. The docs also show updates to Sony's flagship XBR series with the XBR11 LED W-backlit LCD and XBR12 Advanced LED RGB-backlit LCD sets coming in sizes from 32- to 60-inches featuring 240Hz Motionflow, a new Bravia Engine 3 PRO with HD Video processor, and UV2A panel technology. Unfortunately, some of the XBR information (the most important, presumably) is blacked-out and we're only looking at 2 of what appear to be 24 pages of leaked content. Western Digital really hit a sweet spot last year with its $130 WD TV HD Media Player. The thing pumped out 1080p over HDMI at an attractive price, and that's all most people really needed. The newly leaked WD TV-2 revisits the formula, but adds in network playback over the new Ethernet jack, DTS audio decoding, and a component video plug for folks caught in the technological no man's land between composite and HDMI. Outside of that there's a just plain silly amount of codec support, which is hard not to love. No word on price or a release date, but the leaked photos and detailed specs seem to imply this thing is ready for prime time.

While Samsung should confirm / deny all of this on Tuesday, those who simply can't wait to crunch the numbers over the weekend while they're already hammering out the 2008 taxes need look no further. The HDGuru has discovered MSRPs from Samsung's absolutely gigantic 2009 line of LCD and plasma HDTVs, and he'll be adding more as they flow in. Hit the read link to get an idea of what you'll be forced to fork out when these ship out in the not-too-distant future, but don't blow that tax refund all in one place, okay Sonny Boy?

CES 2009 is literally days away, but it seems that those looking for details on any possible new HDTVs from Samsung may not have to wait to get their fill. A few postings over at AVForums has led us to believe that the outfit will be debuting a number of new sets for a litany of markets. The 2009 lineup will reportedly consist of a few new Series 3, 4, 5 and 6 panels, with the main focus being on their LED-backlit-ness. Everything should be available for purchase during the first half of next year, with sizes ranging from around 40-inches and up. Obviously, there are far too many details linked below to cover in this space, but one mention we found particularly interesting was the promised Internet@TV feature, which should effectively replace InfoLive and instead rely on those Yahoo Widgets we've been hearing about for so long. It's about to get really interesting, folks.

Well, what have we here? Thanks to a few mighty believable screen captures, it looks as if Yamaha is getting ready to unveil at least three new AV receivers on the world alongside a stupidly priced Blu-ray player. The 7.1-channel RX-V1900 ($1,399.95) looks to boast four HDMI sockets, USB, a slew of digital audio ports and an undisclosed amount of power; the RX-V3900 ($1,899.95) and the RX-Z7 ($2,699.95) will deliver even more potency, though these are clearly aimed for the more affluent HT enthusiasts among us. Our real love interest here, however, is the mythical BD-S2900 -- an $1,199.95 Blu-ray player with BonusView, support for 1080p24 / 12-bit Deep Color, 192kHz / 24-bit DACs and a bunch of other ho hum specs that make us wonder just how inaccurate that MSRP must be. Here's hoping CEDIA clears things up on the whole gang.

Up until now, AT&T's rollout of 2 HD / 2 SD -- which, for those unfamiliar, enables U-verse users to record two high-def programs at once rather than just one -- has been hit or miss. Now, however, we've received a list of locales coupled with dates that gives a little rhyme and reason to the sporadicalness. A number of cities will be seeing the service activated in waves (or so it seems), and while some folks should be noticing the change at any moment, others could be waiting for a good while still.
