HD channel expansion roundup

Once upon a time, a smattering of new HD channels in one major metropolitan area was a huge deal. Nowadays, it's almost expected that one area or another will experience some HD expansion each week. In order to keep things nice and tidy around here, we deliver high-def expansions, market expansions and anything else dealing with HD channel growth right here. If we missed an area that you're familiar with, drop us a line in comments so everyone can catch up. The more the merrier, we say!

Time Warner Cable loses HDNet at the end of the month, says "being in HD is not enough"

Bad news for Mark Cuban, not only are his Dallas Mavericks out of the NBA Playoffs, but Time Warner Cable is dropping HDNet and HDNet Movies on all of its systems on May 31. Hopefully this doesn't mark the beginning of the end of the network MOJO HD-style, especially since we've heard of the network sliding onto new Comcast systems recently, but TWC PR director Robyn Watson doesn't seem optimistic, saying "being in HD is not enough." Ouch. Still, fans of Art Mann Presents and the like take heart, the "24x7 HD Network for men" MavTV is launching on the HD Xtra tier at the beginning of June.

Poll: Who is right in the NFL Network / Comcast battle?

The hearing is over and both sides have presented their cases to the judge, but it could be up to a month before there's a ruling on the NFL Network vs. Comcast case, and with the channel due to disappear in just a few more days we're leaving the decision up to you. Who do you roll with, the sports channel arguing the cable giant won't open up its lucrative massive subscriber base while keeping them tied to its own useless channels, or the cable company protesting too high subscriber fees for a niche product? Submit your amius briefs in the comments.

Who do you side with, NFL Network or Comcast?

Charter adds eight HD channels in Metro St. Louis

Good news St. Louis, Charter's throwing eight more high definition channels on top of the three it added back in January, but unfortunately the press release completely neglected to mention which eight. Judging by a post from PWSHER at AVS Forum based on a mailer that came yesterday and confirmed by St. Louis Business Journal, we're pretty sure that AMC HD, CNN HD, TLC HD, Animal Planet HD, Science HD, Smithsonian Channel HD, The Movie Channel HD and TBS HD should be filling out your lineup sometime soon. Check after the break for the channel codes and let us know if you see anything new on your HDTV.
