Loewe Individual Selection TVs -- if you care more about the color "of" than "from" the TV

Loewe Individual Selection LCD TVs
For millions of homes, a slight variation on the basic black TV theme fits into the decor just fine. People who suffer an allergic reaction to black gadgets can opt for silver, Samsung's Touch of Color, or stainless steel. If those options don't quiet your fashion faux pas alarms, Loewe has something for you. Rather than innovate on the actual display, the Individual Selection LCD TVs let you mix and match a glossy white or aluminum fascia with swappable inlay side panels in Ruby Red, Apple Green, High Gloss Black, or even console-fabulous Light Oak. We could go into the specs (pretty "meh") or the price (probably "gulp"), but those are beside the point; if you've read this far, you'll want one regardless of specs or price. Might we recommend looking into a truly custom colored set instead?

Loewe hints at Blu-ray-infused LCD HDTV by 2010

While most of the big boys are in a foot race to see who can pump out a legitimate big screen OLED TV the fastest, little ole Loewe is perfectly content with LCD. According to the company's CEO, Frieder Löhrer, he watches "all of the techniques that are on the market, almost on a daily basis," but was quick to dismiss that admittedly mesmerizing laser technology implemented by Mitsubishi as being too "inefficient and ineffective." When questioned on the possibility of joining a few other select firms in producing a Blu-ray-infused HDTV, he stated that he "could not say no," and he continued on to say that "it's a technique that we foresee not for the year 2008, but [probably] for early 2010." Hey, he never said he was trying to beat everyone else to the punch, right?

Loewe taps NXP for LCD TV video processing

Loewe Individual Compose Full HD+ 100
European outfit Loewe is known for its industrial design chops, but the company is hoping that the Euro-sleek beauty of its 37-inch Spheros and 40-inch Individual LCD TVs will be more than just skin deep. To this end, it has chosen to incorporate NXP's top-of-the-line PNX5100 video processor into select models. The processor promises all manner of video optimization, but emphasizes tech to maximize motion resolution in both native HD and upconverted signals, a problematic performance area for many LCD TVs. Sounds good, but we really wish Loewe would carry some of that sleek, minimalist design to its product naming -- the models that are set to get the NXP brains are the Spheros R37 Full HD+ 100, the Individual 40 Selection Full HD+ 100 and the Individual 40 Compose Full HD+ 100 (pictured).

Loewe to unveil ART SL series LCD HDTVs at IFA

We've already seen what Samsung plans on bringing to Berlin in just over a month, but a new duo from Loewe is lookin' mighty fine in its own right. There's not a whole lot being divulged prior to the expo's opening day, but we are told that a 42- and 47-inch ART SL LCD HDTV will be shown off to the public. Each set will reportedly boast a Full HD panel, 100Hz technology, built-in 250GB hard drive (optional) and an integrated DVB-T / DVB-C or DVB-S2 TV tuner. Each unit will be made available in glossy black or silver chrome, though we'll have to wait until August to get pricing / release information.

Loewe's BluTech Vision Blu-ray player also lands

Not to be left out of this year's HD device love-fest at IFA, German firm Loewe has a sexy yet silly named Blu-ray player surely only slightly more likely to gather respect than the American actor Rob of the same name. The BluTech Vision Blu-ray player features HDMI, 24p, TrueHD, DTS HD, 7.1 surround, although not much else is known -- like where the hell you put the discs, or where the front display is. Guess Loewe's home audience of Germany will find out when it's released in October. One more shot after the break.

Loewe intros networked Connect Series TVs

It's been quite some time since we've seen anything of note from Loewe, but the firm is making waves yet again at this year's IFA. Containing television sets in three sizes between 32- and 42-inches, the Connect Series aims to "transform the TV into an intelligent, networked media center." Each display reportedly includes a built-in network media player, integrated HD tuner, a USB port, and Ethernet / WiFi modules; moreover, those opting for the Connect Media DR+ will even receive a built-in HDD recorder to archive OTA programming. Per usual, no word on pricing nor availability at the moment, but do click on for a shot of the Loewe Connect Home Cinema.
