Your pal Bobby earns $20 million in stock sale {Joystiq}

Nov 13th 2009 2:16PM @Brian - Good math skills bud!

Video game publishers stocks usually get higher around the time of a major release. They also drop a fair share after the release because it will take some time for the next big title to come out. Kotick probably lost his ass over the past year like most people who invest and he did what he had to do to get back ahead. I wouldn't count Activision out because some executive wanted to get back some of what he lost.

Madden NFL Arcade rushes towards early Thanksgiving release {Joystiq}

Nov 12th 2009 3:47PM I'm undecided. I wish instead of big stadiums, they would have played this in empty lots or in the street. I want a game where its like playing football with the family in the backyard... 5 on 5 games, tackle of course, and crazy trick plays.

I like the arcade feel of it a little, but a backyard style of football would be way more fun where everything can be customized. Field size, 1st downs, scoring values, tackle/touch/flag, reffing/penalties, players on a team, time/score limit. It would be awesome.

Play a 100 yard field with 1st downs only at the 30 yard lines. Tackle football, where offense calls the penalties with no rebuttals. Score 1 for passing in, 3 for running in, no Point After. 5v5 of course. First team to 10 wins.

Add in rules for counts before the defense can blitz and when the quarterback can go across the line of scrimmage and it would be perfect!

Joyswag: Call of Booty: Modern Wardrobe {Joystiq}

Nov 11th 2009 12:54PM Normally when I come home from work, I throw on athletic shorts and a tshirt which I received for free when donating blood, doing work with the united way, or supporting some random university club that was handing them out for free when I walked to the student center.

Its simple, comfortable, and when I need to jump up and down in a fit of rage, it allows for easy maneuverability!

Vacuuming made fun when Pac-Man meets Roomba {Joystiq}

Nov 11th 2009 9:05AM I wouldn't say they have too much time on their hands. I've done similar projects for school with a similar concept. It was a proof of concept which was not only used to land an A in the class, but land some grant money to see if we could take it to the next level.

They obviously wanted to demo some software they thought had some potential and this added the "awwww" factor by using a game most are familiar with. Great marketing and I really hope they too get to spend more time developing something they think will be the next big thing in robotics technology!

Uncharted 2 getting title update, Halloween festivities {Joystiq}

Oct 30th 2009 3:20PM @tmac - I feel you on that. I usually do quick sprays of bullets using an automatic rifle and the handguns always win. Basically any of the online modes are quick draw fights with pistols!

PSA: Buy 2 games, get 1 free at Toys R Us this week {Joystiq}

Oct 13th 2009 12:59PM @tmac - don't be a dick... just get gift receipts and exchange the games at Toys R Us when the ones you want come out. You have 45 days which puts you in time for most of the good games coming out in the next month and a half. What you're doing is fraud and if caught can land you jail time.

@kentuckyfried - I was there just today and they had lots of M games... they just have a huge ass label on them stating so. Just make sure you're over 17 when you buy them.

Wiimote controls giant claw, brings man and machine closer {Joystiq}

Jul 10th 2009 10:03AM Correction: change the word "feedback" to "input". The feedback would be from sensors on the pneumatic pumps which would allow for a better, more accurate reflection of the user input.

Wiimote controls giant claw, brings man and machine closer {Joystiq}

Jul 10th 2009 9:59AM I'm a controls engineer, this is definitely a simple hack if you know how the accelerometers return info to your computer assuming the claw is controlled electronically and not mechanically.

Odds are though, this thing was controlled with a couple joysticks in the first place which will return values similar to that of the wiimote and all the engineer had to do was switch the feedback device to the wiimote. Depending on how well written the control engineer's software was written in the first place, this could implemented in a few hours of coding and debugging.
