Nov 23rd 2009 1:24AM And better quality. The only web streaming that's good quality is ABC.com when you have the bandwidth to support "HD" episodes. Even then though, Lost via OTA has NOTHING on ABC's streaming.

Nov 20th 2009 12:45AM Back in 2003 I ordered one of their iM3Cs, and I love the speakers. It folds flat, has an IR remote, can be battery operated by 4 AAs but included a wall adapter with international plugs, and multiple iPod sized inserts, including one for my mini. My only gripe was that the "latch" or whatever was used to hold the speakers up wore out after a while, but Altec gladly replaced the whole speaker for me. Does this unit have some sort of release for the stand, or do you just need to yank it out of it's locked position? I was also able to get different sized inserts later on, but now just use it without one at all since I use it with my iPhone. I DO get interference, so I need to put it in airplane mode, but with wifi on I can do Pandora no problem. My iM3Cs I've used outdoors, in a large basement, but mostly in my bathroom (I even put the remote in a ziplock and use that in the shower). I found my unit online for like $130 ($20 off) so when I'm in the market for a new set, I'll certainly look at this and when I find a similar deal, jump on it. They make Great speakers.

Nov 18th 2009 2:50AM This is a feature I could see Apple building in, but then again I could also see them deciding they could do it better (somehow) and making their own "standard". Could this be built into an Expresscard, or does this need integration at the lowest level of a computer's inner working and interconnectivity? I think it'd be awesome to add to my MacBook Pro, but for now, a 15' DVI->HDMI cable stretching from my TV to couch is good enough (thanks monoprice!).

Nov 15th 2009 9:45PM I don't/won't approve of this transition, and I'm someone who whole heatedly supported the DTV switch and am also a person who would benefit from universal wireless internet. I used to get TV from Dish Network as part of my apartment building, but got all my HD TV from an OTA antenna. I have a laptop and an iPhone and would love to sit in whatever park or location I want including my local public transit and get internet, but I don't need it that much. Cable TV though I spec'd out how much would cost at my new place, and it's WAY too much for me. Right now I get all my TV via 3 separate antennas. There's too many logistical issues with what the reparations the government could offer would be. TV from analog to digital is one thing, but changing from digital TV to internet is something else all together.

Nov 13th 2009 12:40AM Uh, not sure what you mean by "screen resolution" but I have a second monitor that's 1920x1200, so to answer your question, I have that resolution. Several of my friends have that resolution. In fact, MANY people have that resolution, so...what's your point?
"Better than the source quality" is almost complete rubbish. Are they going to try and upscale iPhone 3Gs video to 1080 or even 720? For the most part, upscaling doesn't work, so YouTube, just give up right now, and just keep the resolution and even bitrate just like the original and we can agree on that. Okay?

Nov 11th 2009 9:56PM $200 for an internal BR READER may seem like a lot, but do any reasonably cheap BD units BURN discs as well like this unit? I don't know all the prices, but $200 for a burner seems like a good deal. Another factor to consider, for Mac users at least, is that the drives are now getting slim enough to fit into Apple's laptops. I'll be getting a BR reader and writer for my MacBook Pro soon, but I think I'll just stick to an external eSATA drive and call it a day.

Nov 4th 2009 10:07PM Why would anyone rent a forklift for this thing? For one, it's only 110 lbs, and while I can't life that alone, I could with help from 3 of my friends. If I just dropped $175k on a projector, I KNOW I would have friends begging to help me install it. Where that $1,000 could come in handy is shipping; is it included in that price?

Poll: What's the biggest Blu-ray disc still due to arrive in 2009? {Engadget HD}
Nov 1st 2009 4:27PM Wow, mostly a nice selection. Anyone who buys G.I.Joe doesn't deserve a blu-ray player, same for Terminator: Salvation. Forrest Gump and Monsters Inc. will be nice catalog titles. I saw District 9 in 4K and it was AMAZING probably a lot due to it being shot on the RED ONE, and Up also looked stellar in the same 4K theater. Both will be excellent BR transfers I'm sure. Star Trek got my vote just because I think it will have the best chance to take the cake, but I know a lot of people who also liked Up, so maybe it can be a surprise sleeper. Harry Potter's for kids and Watchmen is already out on BR so anyone who only so-so liked it already has the BRD and won't buy again.
