May 22nd 2009 1:53PM Does that count the people that think they're seeing HD but don't have good enough eyes to tell that it's just stretched SD? What about the people that think they don't have HD programming but don't know that they can scan for clear QAM channels? I guess those numbers would probably cancel each other out, though!

Aug 3rd 2008 8:43PM Cable systems are not bound to the February 09 cutoff date for analog programming, but many *will* be switching off analog programming in the next year or two to save bandwidth for more HD channels. This will most likely require a converter box, which will most likely be provided by the cable company. This may vary from system to system, but one would hope there will be some new regulation similar to the old cable-ready regulations, where the QAM tuner in most digital TVs could be used instead of a box for channels beyond the locals.

Mar 4th 2008 1:47PM The "sensor" bar is an IR emitter. It supposedly sends IR signals to the TV, although I would imagine it would have to be oriented in the other direction (or you'd need a mirror on your couch!)

Oct 22nd 2007 10:16AM Front Row in Leopard will apparently play VIDEO_TS folders natively so DVD Assist will no longer be needed. And as mentioned earlier, transcoding with Handbrake is not a solution to the OP's question as it reduces quality (as does any lossy encoding) and you lose the DVD menus and extras.
