Choices: Nissan GT-R or Ford Mustang GT500? {Autoblog}

Nov 19th 2009 2:42PM Sorry to throw water on the fire, and I realize this is just a mental exercise. But we're talking about two different cars that appeal to two different target audiences. It's like the 911 vs Corvette comparo the magazines love doing.

2010 Dodge Ram HD priced from $28,165 and Power Wagon returns! {Autoblog}

Oct 23rd 2009 1:05PM Why is it that Dodge's ultimate work vehicle has a more tasteful and luxurious interior than any of its passenger cars?

Porsche's next supercar, as envisioned by an Iranian designer {Autoblog}

Oct 16th 2009 1:57AM An interesting desig? Absolutely. But an interesting Porsche? I'm not so sure.

Fritz picks Susan Docherty to replace LaNeve {Autoblog}

Oct 8th 2009 9:41AM Isn't this the same person who came up with those horrid "take a look at me now" ads for Buick? The "new GM" has yet to resemble anything other than "old GM" with a few nameplates missing. Hopefully she won't come up with another stinker for the CTS Coupe.

Aston Martin Cygnet (nee Toyota iQ) to hit European city streets next year? {Autoblog}

Oct 7th 2009 6:11PM Cygnet and Cimarron both start with the letter C. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Lexus reportedly developing scratch-resistent molecular-bonding clearcoat {Autoblog}

Oct 7th 2009 9:46AM Hopefully it'll be cheaper than the stuff GM is using to protect the carbon fiber on the ZR1.

Officially Official: Fiat confirms Abarth 695 "Tributo Ferrari" for Frankfurt debut {Autoblog}

Sep 10th 2009 10:30AM At least they had the decency to not slather it with prancing horses and try to pass it off as a genuine Ferrari. Are you listening, Aston?!

REPORT: Jeremy Clarkson against female Top Gear host, calls audience members 'oafs' {Autoblog}

Aug 30th 2009 8:18PM There doesn't need to be a female presenter, but what about female involvement? Can anyone point to an episode with Sabina in it that sucked?

Let's not talk about Danica. She's a marketing wet dream that, on rare occasions, comes close to winning a race. People are more obsessed with her off-air performance and temper tantrums in pit row than anything she does behind the wheel, and she has nobody but herself to blame for that.

Renault Mégane Sport Tourer launches in no fewer than 21 flavors {Autoblog}

Aug 23rd 2009 9:14PM Fuel prices are one reason Europeans drive smaller cars than Americans. These list prices are another. I realize that the taxation is different, but still... ouch!

First Test: 2010 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 launch control {Autoblog}

Aug 21st 2009 6:44PM I can think of a number of cars that would give a C6 a hard time, include a ZR1. A great car and an amazing performance value, to be sure... but certainly not unbeatable.

The point is: comparing a modified car to factory stock is a pointless exercise, and is typically done by the same types that think 'Ring times are somehow scientific. Sure, a modified Corvette can beat an M3 or E63 AMG off the line for less money. Pour a little money into those German cars and the scale tips back in their favor. The 24-year-old in the pimped out Civic is going to keep right up, and do it for far less than any of the above. (And the first guy to show up with a Hayabusa is gonna laugh at 'em all.) See what I'm getting at here?
