Panasonic's HDC-SD1 and HDC-DX1 AVCHD 1080i camcorders loosed {Engadget HD}

Dec 13th 2006 12:29PM I agree. I have the sony hdr-sr1 with the avchd format.(a sony and panasonic joint effort) I had a hard time a disney world getting the info off the hard drive. I had the lattest dvddirect unit from sony and it would not recognize the camcorder. half way through my vacation and the hard drive was almost full. sony apologized and said "we don't know what you can do about it". I had to delete parts to gain more space. very disappointing. the supplied software was satisfactory in retrieving the info off to my computer. just hope that it did save it in real hd. By the way this camera kills the jvc gz-mg505 w/3ccd. worked much better in lower light much truer color reproduction. I give this info since the panny and the sony are very similar. except the panny uses 3ccd over cmos. panasonics 3ccd is a lot better than jvc.
