Banned Xbox modders get a class-action lawsuit to call their own {Engadget}

That is a more than acceptable reason to mod an old style Xbox. Unfortunately you are in the vast, vast minority of the modders. Because of the existing media capabilities, there is no reason now to mod a 360 except for either a) a larger harddrive, or b) to avoid paying for games. A is understandable, but B is reprehensible.
Banned Xbox modders get a class-action lawsuit to call their own {Engadget}
Nov 20th 2009 12:00PM Let's have all those affected bring their console in. If the only hardware change was to allow a larger harddrive, then get it back in business. However, if the system's been modded and everything else is stock, then there can be only one reason to mod their system. Piracy.
Let's face it. Would a pirate rather have his console shut down? Or face criminal charges regarding piracy? There's explicate warnings about copying software. There are penalties associated with said warnings. I say bring it on, and let Microsoft slam fines down on every modder that's doing it because they are too pathetic to pay for what people worked hard on.
Firm considers class action over Xbox Live bannings {Joystiq}
Nov 19th 2009 11:03PM That's what the service agreement contract is for. To make idiots who mod their Xbox, understand that playing copies is illegal and against the agreement. Ban. Done.
Swag Saturday: Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 controllers for all those holiday games {Joystiq}
Nov 15th 2009 8:44PM I remember playing one Christmas with my family. I had the Sega Saturn as my goto game system for party games like Saturn Bomberman and Death Tank. Just a wild evening spent playing as a family with a few cousins swapping in and out every so often. Come to think of it, I think that may have been the last time I spent with the family before I moved out.
Ask Engadget HD: How do I get the best audio from my PS3, without HDMI? {Engadget HD}
Nov 11th 2009 4:12PM What he said. I definitely hear the sound difference in a higher bitrate on my amp. I'm in the same boat until I can upgrade my TV(TV is hdmi 1.1 and connection is spotty at best through amp with hdmi) is) so toslink is the only way. No HD sound is possible without a 5.1-7.1 discrete input (aka onboard analog decoding) and your amp. Consider upgrading the amp if you want your ps3 to do 7.1 DTS/Dolby HD. I'm going to assume you don't want to replace your ps3 as a bluray player.

Nov 11th 2009 12:06PM Spiderman Underoos. Yes, they still fit, and no, you can't have them. Xbox Live doesn't care what you wear as long as you can bring the pain. Unless you have the Xbox Live Cam. Then for all that is holy, keep it G rated.

Nov 7th 2009 11:37AM Most retailers will charge thieving employees to the fullest extent of the law they can. No leniency at all. At best they'll come away with a criminal record, and at worst, fines and prison time.

Nov 7th 2009 11:34AM Good. Pirates of software can go rot in hell. And be stuck with a defective N64 analog controller playing Turok 64 for the rest of their stay in hell.
So you want to play the Bayonetta demo early, do you? {Joystiq}
Nov 7th 2009 11:31AM Fun little demo. I dl'ed the demo and burned it to disc. I'll probably get the game. A lot of frenetic action and sometimes hard to keep track of yourself, but overall, enjoyable.
Nintendoware Weekly: Sparkle Snapshots, Fighting Street, Carnival King & more {Joystiq}
Nov 2nd 2009 12:59PM So sad that Fighting Street was so bad. My biggest enjoyment out of it was the 'CD quality soundtrack'. Beat bips and bops any day of the week. I'm rather curious to see how the sound holds up with this port.
