Amazon promises update to better 'organize Kindle libraries' {Engadget}

Nov 26th 2009 1:01AM I don't have that many books on my Kindle 2i YET and I already see the huge need or organizing. Why it hasn't been done YET seems kind of odd. but I do really like it otherwise.

Banned Xbox modders get a class-action lawsuit to call their own {Engadget}

Nov 23rd 2009 12:19AM MS has been banning consoles since the first Xbox. This is nothing NEW other then the fact so many people got banned at once.

Considering MW2 is a huge game, and a major part of it is online gaming, it's not MS fault the game was release this time of year, or that you Modded your console to play a Pirated game. You took a Gamble and lost!!! Considering there's a reported 600,000 to a Million people banned, that's a lot of people Pirating a game and a huge loss it money for both MS and the game Developer. Your lucky your console still works and you can play your pirated game offline.

Warner's DVD2Blu trade-in swaps Blu-rays for your DVDs, Leland Gaunt approves {Engadget}

Nov 21st 2009 12:56AM I didn't see 1 DVD I wanted to convert over to Blu-Ray. I did do the HD DVD to Blu-Ray, and traded ALL my WB movies except 2 they didn't have. 1 they do now, but it's not worth it until both are posted, so I'm waiting. I wish the others Studio's would do the same thing. I'd like to get rid of all my HD DVD's. Then I wouldn't need all my extra backup HD DVD players that I have. I do still like the HD DVD format better though. HDi was far faster then the BD-Java Blu-Ray is using.

California mandates TV energy efficiency improvements by 2011 {Engadget}

Nov 21st 2009 12:50AM I live in the FU*KED up state. I so much HATE S.F. and avoid it like the Plague that it is!!! The rest of the state isn't much better. I love the Climate here in the Bay Area, and Family live here. so just up and fleeing like so many others really isn't a option.

The Rich getting taxed to death, Except for the Democrat that seem to all be TAX CHEATS, are fleeing, and what we have left is a lot of low Income and None paying Tax people left. Same problem New York is having, People fleeing to Florida and you have the Poor left that pay no taxes and your loosing money. What's the Solution? Raise the taxes some more, like that will get the state any more money. HAHAHAHAHA

Governor Schwarzenegger is a Republican in name only like many others are. They GIVE IN, and the problem gets worse. Sure we all want the FREE STUFF, but someone has to pay for it. Even CHINA now is laughing at us!!! Give it a couple more years, less if this Heath Care SCAM actually goes though, and the Dollar really will be worth nothing. We'll be a Banana Republic!!! That 60" HDTV will now cost $30,000. A Gallon of Milk will be $20, same with Gas. Oh and of course there will 20%+ Interest Rates on Home and other loans. It's coming, worse then when Jimmy Carter was in office.

Barak Obama has SPENT more money then every single President COMBINED, from Washington all the way to BUSH, in under a year, and that's WITHOUT the Heath Care SCAM, and they're not done yet, and want to kill even more jobs with this B.S. Cap & Trade bill (CAP & TAX). They do want to spread the Wealth, not with just others in the U.S either, but the whole rest of the world. WE give our money to everyone else in the world to bring them UP, which really would mean, bringing everyone here DOWN. Hey want to start making $10 a day here in the U.S. Everyone will be THE SAME, that's really all that matters. People better wake up.

As for the new HDTV standards. Well like a lot of my other stuff I buy, Usually from AMAZON, pay ZERO in tax to what once was a great state. I can either buy my next HDTV Online and pay NO TAX again, or at least have a excuse to buy a 60"+ HDTV!!! Yep, more B.S that doesn't help the state. Over Tax, Kill all the Farms, and give in to Unions which are far over paid. They could take 100% of everyone's money and spend it ALL and still be billions Dept.

It's at the point where people on Welfare are driving new BMW, and Mercedes, live in a nice house, and spending Food Stamps!!! Living better then someone that Actually WORKS!!! Sorry to say it's really true!!!

Ask Engadget HD: What's the cheapest way to get streaming internet video on my HDTV? {Engadget HD}

Nov 18th 2009 10:46PM Well I use my Xbox 360 Networked with my PC. By using Media Center and the HD Homerun which is 2 HD tuners that will work with either OTA Antenna for HD channels. Great for picking up ABC, CBS, NBC, CW, PBS, etc. Or can be used for Unscrambled HD cable channels, again, Basic HD Network channels. It's external and also connects to your Network. You can also set it one with one for Antenna and the other cable if you like since there are 2 Inputs. With a nice FREE program guide for Media center, you PC is Recording your HD programs. Record 2 and watch a 3rd if you want. All the HD programs streaming to my Xbox 360 Media Extender. Looks great, works like a TIVO but even better. You can do it with a $99 Arcade system with NO LIVE GOLD SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED!!!

I also use the PlayOn software on my PC. This again allows me to stream content from HULU, CBS, and a few other places, Netflix for FREE on the 360 this way without paying for GOLD!!!, and with Plug-In's for play-On, you have access to other places like Sci-Fi channel among others.

Of course you can stream Pictures, Music and Video that's on your PC to the 360 either directly or though Media Center also. Add in Built-In Netflix support, which also allows you and 7 other friends to watch and chat together.

With the Bandwidth limits these days on how much you can download, and quality, if you can just Record your HD Programs though a Antenna. It's not costing you anything or wasting bandwidth you can use for your other content. You'd be surprised how fast you blow though your CAP streaming HD content!!! COMCAST is at 250 Gig's. That's really not all that much, but others are far worse at 100 Gig's or less. You still need gig's for your PC for software, Online Gaming, etc. The more you can get with your Antenna, the better.

Poll: How important is surround sound to you? {Engadget HD}

Nov 15th 2009 11:53PM I've been running a 5.1 Surround setup for many years now. I now have a Onkyo 806 and Klipsch speakers for my current 5.1 setup. I don't have the room for the other 2 speakers or I'd be setup with 7.1. Great surround sound is just as Important as a great Picture. One without the other is almost a waste. From hearing the crowd around you while watching football, to the bullets whizzing by you watching a movie like 'Saving Private Ryan'. It gets you more into what your watching.

Walking around in the real world, do you wear ear plugs so most everything you here is muted? MONO, can't tell where any sound is coming from, just that you hear something? Of course not. Why would you want that when watching a movie??? You can buy a OK surround sound setup for not a whole lot of money. It's far better then just stock stereo speaker setup. Soundbars are OK, but have their Limitations. Again, better then stock HDTV speakers, so that there is a Improvement, but can't come close to even a cheap 5.1 Surround setup.

I don't mind stereo. I watch netflex content all the time. Still 90% plus the stuff I watch is in Surround, including my Gaming. In games it's quite Important. To here the things going on AROUND YOU!!! You don't need HUGE speakers, and hiding wires isn't generally to hard. Many ways to go depending on your room. Once it's done, you may not have to worry about it ever again for years.

Dulin's Books rolls out PocketBook 360, 301+ ereaders in the US {Engadget}

Nov 10th 2009 1:29AM I think my Kindle 2i is great. I can read from it for more then 2 weeks and and not worry about recharging the battery's as long at I just turn the Wireless ON for a few minutes to download anything new and then turn it back off. Most people's Cell phone for example you have to recharge Daily, or every couple days before the battery dies, even if it sits there. The text is nice and easy to read. Looks just like a Paperback book. Paperback book pages aren't white either, that's the point!!! For those times I want to read in the dark, I use my cheap Book light. Clip it on and I'm good to go.

I can hold it in one hand, and easily turn pages. The second or so it takes to display a new pages is faster then turning a page in a real book. It doesn't need it be super fast. Your not watching Video's on it. It's to READ BOOKS. It nice to have all your books in a single place that you can bring anywhere and access at any time. Where I can get a NEW book anywhere at anytime.

I don't know if ebooks are the new hot thing. It would seem that way, or at least a large enough market for them with all these new ebooks coming out now or soon. Competition is a great thing. Better Hardware at lower prices.

Netflix instant streaming demoed on PlayStation 3 (updated with more video!) {Engadget HD}

Nov 8th 2009 4:06PM No, you need the DISC anytime you want to watch a Netflix movie. That will change next year and be built in like it is on the Xbox 360 with a new system update. Then you can just toss the disc.

Netflix instant streaming demoed on PlayStation 3 (updated with more video!) {Engadget HD}

Nov 7th 2009 1:44AM With PPV, you PAY for each and every movie you watch. Just like any Normal movies you see on the PS3 you have to PAY.

Netflix is a Monthly subscription service. For like a low of $8.99 a month, you get 1 DVD sent to you at a time to watch which is good for those movies that are ONLY on DVD, and you also get UNLIMITED Movie streaming. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. That means watch 1 movie or 100 movies all for the SAME PRICE. So PPV it's costing you what $3.99 or so each?

You can also get 2 disc's at a time or 3 Disc's out at a time for more money, and of course that would allow you to also stream to 2 devices at once or 3 devices at once also. With just 1 Disc at a time, you can at least average 4 DVD's a month, 1 a week or more. If you want Blu-Ray's, it's a bit more per month. Buy 1 Blu-Ray, or 2-3 months of Netflix with pretty much all the movies you could possibly want? My list is HUGE, I don't need Blu-Ray quality for everything. There's a lot of great classics to see, even newer stuff. If all you care about seeing is NEW MOVIES, then Netflix really isn't for you.

Netflix shipping out PS3 instant streaming discs! {Engadget HD}

Nov 5th 2009 9:45PM If you want to watch Netflix on your PS3, you NEED the disc each and every time. There's nothing your installing on the PS3 to make it work where you can then give the disc to your friend to use later. Not until SONY builds it directly into the Interface like the XBox 360 which won't happen until next year!!!
