Blizzard says no Diablo 3 in 2010, 'who knows' when it'll be released {Joystiq}

Nov 23rd 2009 1:40PM Re: Torchlight

Anyone who was bitching and moaning about the art direction of D3, while simultaneously *enjoying* Torchlight, should go jump in a well. Torchlight is a close approximation, if not downright imitation, of the screenshots that Diablo "purists" have feverishly protesting and petitioning blizzard about.

As far as I'm concerned, the success of Torchlight has ended all arguments about the WoW-esque colorful reimagining of the Diablo franchise. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the very reason Blizzard hasn't gone after the "homage" is precisely because it has eased customer sentiment about their new engine. If anything, people will be much more accepting of the change now that they've had a chance to acclimate themselves to the idea that it doesn't have to suck.

The Digital Continuum: Five exciting MMOs in 2010, part 2 {Massively}

Nov 14th 2009 12:11PM Eskil Steenberg's mmo "Love" is currently in Beta, and while a date hasn't been announced 2010 looks like a good possibility. Want to talk about exciting? How about a game that doesn't follow the same old tired MMO conventions for once.

GameStop details three-point plan for digital distro future {Joystiq}

Oct 23rd 2009 9:52AM Manuals in this day and age are completely useless. If a game doesn't teach you in the first 5 minutes everything you need to know, the programmers didn't do their job.

It's not like they're even creative or interesting anymore. Remember when instruction manuals were more like private diaries of the characters themselves? When they contained incomplete but critical maps for new players to fill in, and well drawn art instead of miniscule screenshots?

Direct2Drive continues $5 anniversary sale with discount indie games {Joystiq}

Sep 28th 2009 10:51PM Also five bucks -- Defense Grid: The Awakening.

Probably the best take on the DOTA theme that doesn't feature plants or zombies, and that's 75% off the Steam price and 50% of the XBOX Live pointsamajigs.

Square Enix & PopCap team for puzzle RPG 'Gyromancer' {Joystiq}

Sep 24th 2009 6:30PM Popcap didn't make PuzzleQuest -- Infinite Interactive did.

However, Popcap DID make the immensely entertaining Bookworm Adventures. If Square ever came out with a casual FF game as good, I'd be very happy.
