Xbox 360 Elegant Edition shows Microsoft how it's done {Engadget}
Nov 26th 2009 7:08AM This is the most hideous thing I've ever seen.
While I don't really like the cream colour of the 360, I think it's still a very well designed piece of kit.
Ben Heck does better than this with EVERYTHING he does.
Oh, and check out the rearranging of the 360 that QuietPC does. Those look pretty good too. And won't die so fast.
Datel sues Microsoft, wants its Xbox 360 market back {Engadget}
Nov 24th 2009 5:42AM I love my 360, but Microsoft is really shooting itself in the foot with this nonsense.
Banning modded consoles is one thing, but stopping people from avoiding their idiotic over-priced accessories is quite another.
Desist MS.
YouTube begins streaming 1080p insecurities next week (update: 1080p video!) {Engadget}
Nov 13th 2009 8:16AM It's actually a bit of a mystery to me this one. Flash is very badly optimised, and I had a chat with someone from DivX once who pointed out it's the worst way of displaying video imaginable. Adobe says that it has optimisations for using the GPU in your computer (both PC and Mac) but I've never seen any evidence of it.
Silverlight, on the other hand, seems to handle GPU acceleration properly.
My work computer refuses to play most 720p videos on YouTube, but has no problem with Silverlight.

Nov 13th 2009 7:22AM This is to 1080p video what cheese in a can is to cheese.
A bastardisation.

Jun 18th 2009 7:16AM I'm using the Magic at the moment. It's brilliant. Apart from the battery life - which is dreadful.
Android is nothing short of brilliant.

Jun 2nd 2009 11:41AM Well, those of us that like electronic music would probably prefer this to sitting around clicking a couple of buttons on a pretend guitar.

Fringe: Season One has some Blu-ray exclusives in store September 8 {Engadget HD}
Jun 1st 2009 6:04AM I like Fringe - not sure I'd buy it on Blu-ray though.
As for the audio being Dolby Digital, that's really not enough to put me off. DD is great quality and although I'd never turn down lossless audio, I think compressed is, for the most part, fine.
