Netflix streaming purportedly hitting Nintendo's Wii next {Engadget}
Oct 28th 2009 9:24PM That image is from a survey that was sent out in March. A similar survey was sent out concerning the PS3 at that time that had the same $9.99 fee in the survey. There is no way to know whether the fee that was mentioned 7 months ago is still relevant (it apparently isn't for the PS3).

Oct 28th 2009 7:38PM The Netflix CEO said in their latest earning call that they plan to go international with streaming in the 2nd half 2010.

And honestly, based on the way that movie and TV rights are handled on a country by country basis, its probably easier for them to get it on every console/stb out there than to expand internationally.

Pace and Rovi work together to make a standard set-top a true multi-room DVR {Engadget HD}
Oct 28th 2009 7:58AM It seems to me that if each STB is a dual tuner DVR, and they are all recording HD shows to the NAS, you are going to hit some limits real quick. I know MoCa 1.1 is rated at 175mbps, but anyone know some real world numbers? At a max of 20mbps for an MPEG-2 channel, you'd be limited to 4 STBs recording/buffering at once and that is assuming perfect conditions.
Plus with only 500GB that can get filled really quick.
My other concern would be the fact that if that NAS dies you lose all of your shows. I think I'd prefer individual DVRs that use cooperative scheduling & a combined list of shows.

Roku XR adds 802.11n, USB port and a longing for something more {Engadget HD}
Oct 20th 2009 9:12AM Probably b/c Netflix isn't in the hardware business and doesn't want to be. Roku is a separate company from netflix. Roku has been around for a number of years and has had a number of other digital media hardware products on the market (mostly audio I believe). They were actually founded by the former founder of ReplayTV. Netflix invested money in Roku and they developed this box, but they are still separate companies. The Roku box now has a couple of content channels on it besides netflx:
Amazon VOD
MLB.com (live baseball games)
And they are supposed to add the following content channels sometime this year:
Blip
Mediafly
TWiT
Revision3
Pandora
YouTube
Flickr
