Poll: What part of your home theater is getting upgraded this holiday season? {Engadget HD}
Oct 11th 2009 6:27PM Ill be getting my first HDTV. I'm leaning toward vizio's new 552XVT internet enabled hdtv. I also have to replace my 20 year old Sony es receiver. I want to get an ht internet connected receiver so I can get internet radio stations and not have to pay for another Sirius license. Id like to be able to listen to KFI radio on my receiver so I can play games on my pc while I'm listening. :) I'm on the fence about getting a plasma. I really like Panasonic 54 inch internet enabled plasma. I'm worried about how hot they get and their reliability. Plus Id have a window on the side of it and in the front. My bedroom might be to bright in the day for a plasma.
Sony takes Uncharted 2 on tour, with 4K digital projection to make you forever loathe your home setup {Engadget}
Oct 3rd 2009 1:17PM There is a need for 4k now. Its mainly used in movie archiving and the dlp digital projection in movie theaters. The next step will be 4 k plasma and lcd screens for the consumer market in about 15 years from now. The red one cameras are capable of 4k as well.
VIZIO VF551XVT LED-backlit HDTV spotted in the wild {Engadget HD}
Sep 27th 2009 3:32AM This vizio is not edge lit. Its got a full array of leds to light up the lcd screen. They use local dimming to turn off the leds they don't need in dark scenes. I cant wait for the internet enabled version of this tv to come out. I'm holding out for that one. The internet version is expected to ship in december. Hopefully vizio fixed all the issues with that one to get it out in time.

Aug 21st 2009 6:00PM 2001 a Space Odyssey was stunning on bluray. That movie is the oldest one I have that is on bluray. They did a great job with it. I wouldn't mind seeing oz in the theaters. Id love to see 2001 come back too.
Glenn Beck Boycott: Censorship or Good Citizenship? {Politics Daily}
Aug 19th 2009 7:40PM The media needs to get their act together. They have left out the fact that Van Jones is a known Communist. This boycott is just wrong. The left had no problems calling President Bush a racist when he was president.

Aug 8th 2009 12:03AM @vanilla_sperm The black bars are great for wide screen movies. They give you the entire movie and not some stretched out mess. Here is the best demonstration that I've seen for explaining widescreen. Director/actor Leonard Nimoy did a great job with this. It really shows what you are missing from widescreen to pan and scan. http://widescreen.org/multimedia/nimoy.mov Check out widescreen.org for more information.
