New Clone Wars episodes stunning, but less kid friendly {TV Squad}
Nov 7th 2009 5:24PM The current Clone Wars (and the older 5-min episodes) are great, but I would love to see Lucas go hands off and put a new movie based on this animation over in the hands of someone new. They did the Clone Wars DVD/movie 2yrs back, but it was just felt bland. We need something fresh.
I want Lucasfilm to grow a pair and decide to actually progress PAST Return of the Jedi. "Shadow of the Empire" would make a great one shot movie using this animation. I could only hope to see the "Heir to the Empire" trilogy. That would be sweet.

Nov 7th 2009 5:19PM It HAS to be counting time that users think they have "quit" the app, but it is really still hogging down in the task bar. I really wish all apps like that would default to truly quitting the app rather than shrinking down and stay running. It is not a problem for me, but I can't tell you how many machines I sit at with junk like that just happily running away....
Boxee media center to hit beta next month {Download Squad}
Nov 6th 2009 1:53PM I do like Plex better, but I still use Boxee more as odd as that sounds. Plex just feels much more of a slick product, but it eats my MacBook Pro's CPU for lunch and constantly keeps a hot temp even when just sitting at the home GUI screen. Boxee still warms it up a bit, but the CPU usage is much less.

Nov 4th 2009 10:24AM I would prefer a 2 drive internal mirror option. Or at least a way to schedule a backup to have that extra safety net without having another external drive cluttering up the place and wallwarts hogging my outlets.
Apple pitching $30 a month TV service for iTunes to the networks? {Engadget}
Nov 2nd 2009 5:27PM No way in hell I would pay $30 a month to Apple when they have let AppleTV languish around with the pitiful label of "hobby" for so long. Not too mention I am sure this would just add fuel to the fire of Comcast, Verizon, etc... about tiered internet access.
Apple breaks Atom Hackintoshes with upcoming OS X 10.6.2 update {Download Squad}
Nov 2nd 2009 5:23PM Actually one of the guys I work with bought his very first copy of OS X, just to try a hackintosh! Surprised me too. I think it was a good move to get potential users.
(Thank you Apple for not being such a freak about upgrades vs installs like with Win7)

Family awarded $16.5 million for wrongful death in 'Hold Your Wee for a Wii' contest {Engadget}
Oct 30th 2009 4:05PM Very sad story. Very very bad situation for the family that no one should go through; but lawsuits like this are just not good for us and frustrates me.
Let's say it was a "Whoever can hold their breath the longest will win a Wii" contest. Contestants line up to enter the contest. Once the contest starts they begin to drop out because they want to breathe. It gets down to two contestants. One contestant passes out because they refuse to breathe. That contestant falls to the floor and hits their head and dies of the resulting trauma.
According to this type of lawsuit, we should be able to sue the contest providers even though the contestant entered into the situation completely of their own free will and was in no way forced to stand their and hold their breath. Did the contestant not know that they could possibly fall down and die if they did not breath? Are we going to have to establish a national unified Q&A sheet that any contestant must answer before engaging in any type of contest to make sure they know every possible outcome of any situation? It basically should not matter if the contestant or contest provider knew there was a chance to fall down and die or not. The contestant completely and fully chose their own course of action because they wanted to win and decided that the contest was worth the risk to win.
To go along with this ruling takes personal responsibility out of the equation. Personal responsibility is dead.
