Engadget's Black Friday giveaway, part five: win one of five Nyko Charge Base IC units! {Engadget}

Nov 27th 2009 8:18PM Considering my old charge stand broke recently, this would be nice. AA's are for suckers.

Snow Leopard review {Engadget}

Aug 26th 2009 10:54PM You know, I've been a Windows user for years, and really have no intention of switching full time (I do have a Mac Mini I bought used to play around with) and I really give Apple credit for not trying to sell this OS as something it isn't. For 30 bucks, it tells me that "Yeah, this isn't a major upgrade, but guess what, it's 30 bucks, so you might as well just get it.".

Plus, and as much as I love Win7, Apple has the right idea. ONE VERSION. None of that "Need this feature? Better buy THIS version.". At least Win7 has progressive addons with no losses like Vista did (no Media Center in Business, No domains in Home Premium. Need both? Spend the extra for Ultimate.).

Sony: PS2 back compat not returning to PS3 (ever) {Joystiq}

Aug 20th 2009 7:42PM When I bought my PS3, I looked for a 60GB because if I was going to get BC support, I preferred to have the actual hardware over the software solution. This was before Sony announced the decision to drop the BC from the consoles. Now, for me, the only reasons I care about BC anymore are that I like only having one console on my shelf to play 3 generations of games, and that I like having wireless control on my PS2 games since I sit much farther back than I used to when I played my PS2..

Sure, I've still got my PS2 and use it when I want to play any of my imports, and if I had to replace my PS3, I wouldn't care about losing the BC since my PS2 works fine. I just like the convenience factor of 3 consoles in one.

Redbox debuts $2 video game rentals, pretty lean on titles thus far {Engadget}

Aug 16th 2009 6:01PM I just saw that they added games to the Redbox at 7-11 here (I'm about 20 miles out from Reno). Not too bad of a selection, it had everything in the picture up there, plus INFamous, Prototype, UFC 2009, and CoD: WaW. Didn't bother to rent anything since I wasn't particularly looking to at the time, but I might go rent something this week. It is nice here since we don't have a Blockbuster or anything to rent games from here, so this is finally an option, but for people that do have a Blockbuster or whatever to rent from, the selection is limited and the price isn't worth it.

Student learns hard lesson on modding {Joystiq}

Aug 5th 2009 2:20AM Except that it's Immigration AND Customs. It's one department. Being that these modchips were imported, it falls under the jurisdiction of Customs. I wouldn't call it an abuse of federal power. A serious waste of it, yes, considering we should be freely able to modify our own property, and pay someone to do it for us if we choose.

Nintendo reveals American Club Nintendo bonuses [update] {Joystiq}

Jul 14th 2009 8:22AM Huh, I was kind of bummed about being 10 coins short of Platinum when they announced the cutoff date, but I kind of like the calendar.

PSN Thursday: MGS1 infiltrates the PSOne Classics' ranks {Joystiq}

Jun 18th 2009 7:25PM There is also the statues in the room that you can shoot to disrupt his powers.

What I'm wondering, and I don't think it'll work on the PSP but I don't know how memory cards work on it, is if the old memory card scan will work with Konami games. I think Suikoden and Castlevania SOTN were among games detected by Mantis.

Massively refreshing: WoW Mountain Dew now available, with bonus in-game pet {Joystiq}

Jun 9th 2009 1:41AM My local Wal-Mart had both flavors in 20oz. The Horde flavor is exactly the same as the Halo 3 Game Fuel, while the Alliance flavor is a new Fruit Punch flavor. A someone who has been slowly drinking his reserves of the Halo 3 Game Fuel, I can tell you that the Horde flavor is IDENTICAL to the original. It is nice to actually get crisp, fresh new stock though because the Halo 3 stuff has lost a bit of its punch over the last year or so. At least it was still drinkable.

Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires getting US release in June {Joystiq}

May 19th 2009 4:57PM Oh yeah, that would be awesome. Use Earth, the colonies and the moon as the territory and it would easily be doable.
