The Platform is the Message {Blog Maverick}
Aug 17th 2008 1:28AM Content is really king whether you're watching on your HDTV in your living room, your computer monitor or your cell phone. There is content that is geared for every platform, some will cross over and some won't.
I watch mainly sports and movies on my 65" HDTV, I watch short videos on my PC and I'll occassionaly watch music videos or short news clips on my Windows Mobile Phone. Internet video will not kill TV. TV will always be TV. What really matters is the content available on the device you're using.

How to deep fry a turkey... {The Jason Calacanis Weblog}
Nov 16th 2007 7:53PM You're right Jason, a properly deep fried turkey is the best! I've been deep frying turkey at Thanksgiving and Christmas for the last 6 years or so. This year we're going camping with some friends and family so I'm taking the deep fryer with me. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Politics {Blog Maverick}
Sep 4th 2007 12:32AM Great post Mark, I can say "me too" to a lot of your feelings & comments. I will be checking out Ron Paul after seeing so many comments in support of him as I am so sick of the way our government is functioning, especially the outrageous amounts of money we're spending on wasteful programs.
We're taking care of so many illegal aliens as well as the war and the welfare of other countries that the US is falling apart. Lets not even discuss healthcare...All I can say is that everyone should see Michael Moore's movie Sicko. That should answer your questions on the health of our healthcare industry. I've been a republican all my life but I can say I am seriously considering switching to independent. I'm fed up!!!
DirecTV TiVo owners to get update in early '08 {Engadget}
Jul 31st 2007 11:00PM wish they could upgrade them to MPEG4 otherwise they'll be obsolete in many markets by 2008. I've got 2, 1 HD and 1 SD but will probably switch to the DirecTV DVR's because our Los Angeles locals are all going MPEG4, some already are.
Giveaway: have an iPhone on us! {Engadget}

I am buying an iPhone based on Walt Mossberg's video review below. {The Jason Calacanis Weblog}
Jun 27th 2007 2:13AM I have to be honest, I've never been an Apple fan but the iPhone does look very cool! There are two things that prevent me from buying the iPhone and ditching my 8525 and thats the lack of a real keyboard and that it only runs on AT&T's Edge network and not 3G such as my 8525. I've been using my 8525 which is Windows Mobile based for about 7 months and absolutely love it over the Treo, Blackberry, Blackjack or any other phone. I just see too many downsides for the iPhone to be used as a serious business too and too expensive for most consumers...not to mention the fact that the phone is sealed so you don't have access to the battery or even a memory card slot for expansion. That being said, they will still sell a ton of iPhones!
Geni is worth its $100M valuation {The Jason Calacanis Weblog}
Jun 26th 2007 7:24PM I just signed up and I really like the slick interface. I think my family will like it as well and hopefully we can get going on our family tree and history record I've been wanting to do. I was worried at first about adding hundreds of family members and then all of a sudden the site shuts down but I searched their forum and discovered the ability to use GEDCOM export and it looks like they're going to add an import feature as well.
