Nov 23rd 2009 4:19PM Wow, what a glorious rip off. God bless our telecomm oligopoly.

Nov 23rd 2009 1:39AM While I completely agree for myself, this thing is really great for people that don't want to have a computer attached to their TV. While I personally am at the point where I can barely even find a function for a TV without a computer attached, lots of people simply want to watch videos, maybe get RSS-style news updates, etc. The Roku box is simply one option for them (and through personal experience, I will say I believe it to be a very good one).
YouTube pulls a Hulu -- yanking API access from Popcorn Hour (Update: Google responds) {Engadget}
Nov 20th 2009 1:12PM @Brian!: Copyright has gone out of control. It's too bad nobody can stand up for Mozart's rights, and sue anyone who uses his music! Or the numerous story creators that Disney has ripped off over the years (the most blatant example of hypocrisy in the history of the world).

Apparently that is more of a guide, than a rule. This is why I don't trust Google. Wolf in sheep's clothing. "No, we're the good tech company, not like the other evil ones!"

Nov 20th 2009 10:10AM @sam WMV? Unlikely. It will more than likely be some fashion of Silverlight. I agree that it has about a 99% chance of being proprietary though.
Amazon offers $50 PSN card with PSP Go purchases, for tonight only {Engadget}
Nov 17th 2009 10:59PM Here is my price breakdown for the PSP:
$50 - Yes, it's a commodity, what the hell.
$100 - If there are some cool games, or I can mod the hell out of it, I'd probably go for it.
$150 - There'd better be some sweet games, I'd better be able to mod it, and it'd better do a lot of other stuff (music, HD movies, etc)
$200 - no
$250 - ....
I'm sorry, it's a portable system. As in, I'm going to use it for a few minutes here and there, maybe sporadically for longer periods, and if it does enough, possibly as a PMP. That use scenario doesn't equate to a lot of money, especially in a recession...
WowWee Cinemin Swivel pico projector shocker: available now! {Engadget}
Nov 16th 2009 2:57PM This is about $149 too much. I have no idea what it costs to produce it and recoup R&D costs...just saying what I'd pay for something like this. It doesn't fill a huge gap in my life by any means...I think I could find some cool stuff to do with it, it might come in handy for impromptu meetings or something...but something that serves that purpose is going to have to work really hard to break the $100 spending barrier for me...
Comcast TV Everywhere launch details: December, free for existing subs, really goes anywhere {Engadget}
Nov 12th 2009 5:29PM Technically? No, not at all.
Legally, within the laws that our media and tech industries have paid Washington to make? Basically impossible.
Sorry.

Nov 12th 2009 5:15PM Well they make you do that, because there's no existing, ubiquitous player available on 99% of computers at the present.
Of course, I'm being sarcastic. We have Real Player.

Nov 12th 2009 5:13PM I strive to temper my language in public forum in general, so I hope you'll pardon me when I say Comcast can eat a bag of shit and proceed to burn in the center of Hell.
