Pioneer brings more affordable Blu-ray options to UK {Engadget HD}

Jun 4th 2009 1:36PM Nice to see Pioneer continuing with there Blu-ray players, and having options for everyone and all rooms.

The are continuing to build blu-ray players, receivers, and have a new speaker line up.

Hopefully they'll be a display technology that comes along that allows them to get back into the television business. They do it better than anyone else.

LG considering withdrawal from plasma market {Engadget HD}

Feb 26th 2009 4:46PM Yes, Pioneer does manufacturer their own plasma panels, don't know who told you otherwise. It is a shame that the industry has caved to LCD's based on years of misinformation about plasma. Superior quality is losing out.

S-Video disappearing from AV receivers, few seem to notice {Engadget HD}

Feb 25th 2009 10:58PM So you are trying to tell me that your VHS and Hi8 tapes are going to loose quality being transferred to DVD because of MPEG2 compression? Trust me I think you'll squeeze just about everything you can out of them going digital.

And analog signals di use a form of compression, it's called interlacing. It's one of the reasons it's hard to get a good capture off VHS. Use a computer to capture the footage at high enough resolution and deinterlace afterward.

60 megabits per second is an insane amount of data, how could you possibly need that much? Bluray tops out at 54.

Not to mention that those analog tapes are going to deteriorate.

Samsung's CES 2009 booth tour {Engadget}

Jan 14th 2009 1:52AM That was Pioneer Elite first of all. It looks like it won't make production till 2010 or 2011 based on speculation out there. The mistake for Samsung is ironic since Pioneer just won a settlement from Samsung for infringing on it's plasma patents.

iPhone 2.2 firmware update available now, Google Street View and plenty more {Engadget}

Nov 21st 2008 1:48AM Restarting a second time allowed me to restore. Did not have to reinstall iTunes.

Still annoyed. 2.0 update smooth, but 2.1 and 2.2 crashed.

iPhone 2.2 firmware update available now, Google Street View and plenty more {Engadget}

Nov 21st 2008 1:23AM Tried to update and mac screen grayed out and pop up message saying I must restart or shutdown my mac so did a hard power off.

Now iPhone is stuck in restore mode and update keeps erroring. Also Safari kept crashing when I tried to come here until I cleared cache

Trying another restart and if that doesn't work looks like I'm reinstalling iTunes, same as for 2.1 update.
