Aug 11th 2009 8:00PM This is by far the dumbest article I have read on this site in some time. Toshiba just announced it's intentions to release products with Blu-ray support. Steven Kim, you have just given mentally challenged people who are currently unemployed, a reason to believe.

Jul 14th 2009 12:49PM Further to my point. For any idiot that would solve the "Reflection" problem by simply turning off the lights and closing the shades. I have no intention of ALWAYS being in the dark when I watch TV. May work for movies, but I am not about to watch Price is Right sitting in the dark. LOL :)

Jul 14th 2009 12:38PM I understand Plasma has evolved just like any other technology over the years. However, is" Burn-in" and "Reflection" no longer a concern with Plasma? As someone who has his share of windows around the TV, "reflection" is a HUGE concern. As for Gamers and people that watch a given channel for long periods of time (with logo in corner of screen), "Burn-in" can be a HUGE concern. If these two problems are still an issue with Plasma, then all of your points are moot. Since "Reflection" & "Burn-in" if they take place, are FAR bigger issues then Black-levels & Contrast Ratios. I believe these two concerns partly explain why LCDs have been the consumers choice, even if it has been more expensive then similar sized Plasmas.

Dec 18th 2008 10:20PM I purchased the Cinema Series 52XV545 with SRT shortly after it debuted at CEDIA. I must say that I do not regret it at all. My SD channels never looked this good. Overall it is a great value. This is coming from someone who has had his share of HDTVs over the years. It is certainly better then my Full 1080P Sony BRAVIA. Some people are hating on Toshiba just a little too much. I guess anything to generate a reaction. We might even see an HD DVD article soon...

Nov 16th 2008 8:53PM The amount of ignorance is shocking. The subject here is not whether or not Blu-ray is significantly better then DVD. The question is if the difference is as important as VHS to DVD. The answer is obvious people. DVD not only represented a big leap over VHS in picture and sound, but is was a completely different medium (Tape to Disc). The advantages were huge (Fast Forward, Rewind, Special Features, etc.). All things that ANY consumer can see the benefits of, regardless of the quality of there Home Theater. Blu-ray does not even come close to doing this. We still have a disc based format, with many of the same features. Blu-ray took what we already had in DVD and made it better (better picture, sound, more features). It did not introduce anything new to the extent of DVD did over VHS. I have both, Blu-ray and HD DVD. But let us not let our passion for HD cloud our judgement.

Nov 11th 2008 4:05PM I have the Regza Cinema series 52XV545. It has SRT (Super Resolution Technology). It was launched at CEDIA 2008. It handles my SD content VERY WELL. It is not with the "Spurs Engine", but it made a noticable difference. No regrets.
