Eclipse rolls out ultra-pricey TD712zMK2 space speakers {Engadget HD}
Feb 16th 2009 12:11PM Hey Darren... I really wonder how much you know about the world of high-end AV. 6 grands for a pair of speakers isn't what I call "Ultra Pricey".......... I'm not defending these, I never heard of the brand and they look like something Aperture Science lab would have designed.... but seriously would you stop ranting on anything better than a Sony HTIB or iPod dock at 129$??
Most people reading this post should be AV enthousiats and should know that there is a world out of the Best Buy and Futureshop when it comes to high quality and high performance.
Get your sh*t together buddy, I know blogging doesn't have to be serious journalism but I can't beleive all the crap you can come up with when it comes to higher-end product.
Furutech looks to DIY crowd with new power connectors, receptacles {Engadget HD}
Dec 26th 2008 11:44PM instead of bitching about the price, have you ever tested the product? Changing the powercord on a unit makes a HUGE difference, let it be an amp, subwoofer, cd and even a TV. It's a shame this site and their writters always end up bitching about high-end pricy products geared towards performance but will drool over the new Tivo/iPhone/etc crap out there.
High-end is about performance, and better products come with a price.
Ask Engadget HD: Best stereo receiver / amplifier? {Engadget HD}
Dec 25th 2008 11:43PM NAD C720BEE for receiver, or any of their integrated amp if you don't need the tuner. Their Viso Two is pretty cool too if you want the built-in DVD/CD player.
NAD's BD-Live-enabled T587 Blu-ray deck heads to Canada for $1,600 {Engadget HD}
Nov 30th 2008 5:14PM who carea about the audio section of a BD player?? How about DTS HD and Dolby True HD? Not all digital format are equal and neither are players. NAD still makes a 2500$ Masters DVD player, so do most high-end audio company. It's ok that Sony and Panasonic players are cheap, it will help the format but higher end companies will make better players. A 1600$ Bluray that goes with a 3000$ receiver makes sense.
It's a shame that Engadget always snicker at anything expensive and good quality... not everyone should by a Viewsonic plasma hooked up with an Oppo player. Especially when it comes to Blu-ray, it's a STEP UP from DVD. If you don't need the best, stick to 480p DVD playing out of your TV speakers....... If you want the best image and sound, then a good Bluray player, good HDMI cable, good plasma or project, good receiver and speakers are all needed for a full expenrience.

Ask Engadget HD: Which cable / interconnect brand should I rely on? {Engadget HD}
Sep 24th 2008 11:07PM you guys are so conserned with the quality of your screen but never with cables...... the cables are as important as any other component in your system. Because ultimatly what you're trying to achieve is a system. Cheaping out on cables in a system is like cheaping out on tires on a car. Also, there are other cables than HDMI. Toslink is still accoustically better than HDMI (but does not carry Dolby/DTS HD). Not all two cables are created equal and online discounter dont need to stand behind their products. They're ok when you're on a budget and usually better than the cheap brand at Best Buy, etc.
Quality cables, and that's what this is about right now only comes from a serious company, and at a price of course. Audioquest is a very serious company that offers products from the low end (HDMI cable at 40$) to very high end. Nordhost is very respectable as well. I find it really ironic that a site crazy about HD and performance always puts down a good portion of the equation.
