Engadget's recession antidote: win a copy of Need for Speed Undercover for Xbox 360! {Engadget}

How would you change Apple's Rev. B MacBook Air? {Engadget}

Feb 28th 2009 8:34AM I think the price is the MBA's biggest hindrance. It has to be under $1k. It makes no sense that it costs more than a Macbook. My second change would be built in WWAN, but I'm sure Apple would go with AT&T again rather than VZ or Sprint. They need to switch to the buttonless trackpad for consistency. And of course, one more USB is non-negotiable. I too wouldn't mind seeing an SD reader added. I never understood why Apple ignores this feature on their mobiles when it's so common on PC brands.

Netgear's Coax-Ethernet Adapter up for pre-order {Engadget}

Jan 29th 2009 11:33AM I have to agree with the other posters. Wiring CAT5 isn't all that hard, or expensive. Yes, if you decide you want a jack in every room of the house, two in some, then it can be a big undertaking. But if you already know the 4 or 5 locations you need it, it's pretty easy, at least in a woodframe house. My biggest problem was finding a direct route from the basement to the attic. I ended up following the AC piping which runs perfectly vertical. I bought my cable and jacks from deepsurplus.com whom I highly recommend. Total I put in 5 jacks on 3 floors for about $100 bucks.

Furutech looks to DIY crowd with new power connectors, receptacles {Engadget HD}

Dec 28th 2008 10:01AM When a consumer product costs more than an industrial grade product, clearly you are being ripped off. Yes, the quality of the power signal will make a difference on certain devices, but if it's really that much of a problem, then you need to have an electrician come out and check your wiring, not drop cash on a "better" power cord.

AT&T pushing up some U-verse TV prices in February 2009 {Engadget HD}

Dec 28th 2008 9:45AM Typical. I have U-verse right now, and this among other reasons is why I'm about to ditch it. The HD compression is the biggest reason though. HD channels look like crap, and SD look even worse than normal. I can't take it. For what I'm paying it should be better. I'm going back to cable. As much as I loathe Comcast, at least the final product on my screen looks better.
