Dec 11th 2008 5:46PM My parents have an HDTV and have never once, to my knowledge, had any kind of HD signal on it. They watch the same crappy SD Dish network box & VCR/DVD all stretched out and horrible looking and they ooh and ahh at how awesome their "HDTV" looks. I keep harassing them to upgrade but they just don't think there's anything wrong with it and have no interest in spending any more money for an HD package or a new receiver.

Nov 21st 2008 5:08PM Fixing retail prices is a violation of U.S. antitrust laws. Retailers are free to sell products for any price they want to sell them for. The FTC brought charges against New Balance (shoe company) a few years ago for this exact thing. Threatening to stop supplying stores that under-cut the MSRP, etc.
Botched DirecTV software update requiring HR2X STBs to be restarted? {Engadget HD}
Oct 6th 2008 7:47PM I don't have an HR2X but I do have an H21 (HD, no DVR) and it froze up over the weekend, either Saturday or Sunday... I can't remember. I woke up and it would turn off and on but would not respond to any remote control or front panel buttons. I had to pull the plug and reset it before I could use it again.
My non-HD receiver was fine.
