Good deal when you look at it, but all I really want on Blu-ray of those 3 is SR. It's currently $23.95 on Amazon, but I think I saw a Black Friday ad listing it for $12, so I guess I could just do that.

Nov 12th 2009 3:02PM I'm on the look out for a Panasonic TC-P50G10 that can be had for $900. I've seen it online for as low as $1100, but when I can get one for less than $1000 after taxes and/or shipping, it will be a great XMas gift to myself (and my wife...she wants one, she just doesn't realize it yet).

Nov 12th 2009 2:45PM He was ranked down because, for most TVs (every TV?), hooking it up in this manner will result in sending 2-channel audio to the receiver which is converted to Dolby Pro Logic. This is not the ideal way to get the best audio for his setup, using Toslink and setting up the PS3 to bitstream audio to the receiver is.

Oct 27th 2009 2:40PM Not sure why having to use a disc is such a big deal. You have to insert discs to play PS3 games or to watch movies on Blu-ray, so it shouldn't affect you too much unless you're really that lazy.
Is it an elegant solution? No, but as long as it works it will be just fine until a software solution comes around. Netflix streaming is a supplement to receiving DVDs/Blu-ray by mail, not a replacement, and since my standalone player does not support Netflix streaming, this is a welcome addition as a PS3 owner.
I'm looking forward to using this when it becomes available.

Oct 16th 2009 1:36PM Agreed, big box office earnings does not a good movie make.
Transformers was a good film and many of us went to see Revenge of the Fallen because we expected it to be as good as the first. Instead, we got stupid gangster robots, too many headache-inducing camera shots and all the other aforementioned things. There were some great slow pans of Megan Fox, though she's not the reason most people went to see the movie.
And as far as Stars Wars Episode I, II and III...no, Episode I wasn't great, but many people really enjoyed II and III, so whether they're good films or not is debatable, but this is not the venue to discuss that right now.

Oct 13th 2009 10:11AM Wow, low blow regarding The Proposal, Ben. When I saw this in the theaters with my wife, I was not expecting too much, but we thought there was plenty of funny scenes and, surprisingly to me, really enjoyed it.
Sure, it's got some of that same old tried and true romantic comedy formula, but I thought it was good. Although, I would recommend renting it as opposed to buying it, as it's probably only good for a one-time viewing.

Oct 13th 2009 10:04AM We just bought our first home a week ago, and I think it's time to start upgrading everything. Current setup is as follows:
30" LG 30FS4D SuperSlim CRT HDTV
Sony HT-CT100 Sound Bar/Subwoofer with 3 HDMI in / 1 out
Samsung SMT-H3090 HD DVR STB (Time Warner)
Sony PS3 40GB (upgraded to 500GB)
Philips BDP-7200 Blu-ray Player
The first thing that needs to be upgraded is the TV. Previous viewing distance at our apartment was only 9 ft, now between 10-15 ft at the house(depending on where you're sitting). I've had my eyes on a 50" Panasonic plasma for quite some time, specifically the TC-P50S1 or TC-P50G10, not sure if the G10 is worth the extra $200-300 over the S1 though.
When the new TV is purchased I will need a new stand to accomodate it, and it needs to be a corner with enough space and ventilation for my previously listed components (the PS3 is quiet with enough ventilation, but may as well be a 360 if it's in a confined space when considering noise).
A new receiver and speakers will follow, but I am in a tough spot in regards to surround speakers at the new home since the TV is located in a corner and the couch and love seat are in completely different viewing angles/locations in relation. Placing rear speakers that will immerse both seating positions will be extremely difficult and/or look weird. Oh well, I will tackle that problem after I replace the TV.
I really feel getting a bigger, higher quality TV is my top priority this Black Friday, although I may not have to wait until then (or I could wait til after) since the Panasonics are already very reasonably priced.

I absolutely agree with you. Maybe one day TVs won't even have bezels (or bezels so thin that you barely notice them) and it will just look like a floating panel design. Or they can just replace the reflective material with matte and call it a day.
And to be clear, I am only referring to the bezels, not the panels here. For some reason, I actually prefer glossy to matte when it comes to screens.
