AT&T's 3G MicroCell runs $150 in Charlotte trial, service is free without unlimited calling {Engadget}

Sep 21st 2009 2:34PM Not too bad, we have AT&T landline and DSL. I hope they release to everyone soon, my family will be all over it!

Any word on the range of the product?

Steven Soderbergh calls out the aspect ratio villains: HBO, AMC - We're talking about you {Engadget HD}

Aug 8th 2009 10:21AM AMC does one thing right: Mad Men. Probably the best cable TV show I have ever seen. Either way, the Aspect Ratio war will never end. The fact of the matter is, we Engadget readers are a rare breed when compared to the millions with 16x9 televisions that wonder why those black bars are still there after they upgraded their TV sets. Those people get angry and yell at the cable stations. There are more of them than there are of us.

So, these companies would rather have a screaming minority than a screaming majority...thus, the pan-and-scan wonders of the HDTV era...

Official Windows 7 upgrade chart is ridiculous {Engadget}

Aug 6th 2009 7:01PM Oh the horror? How about a few clicks and you're done? Ignorance is bliss, I suppose. Use a Mac for one year, then you'll realize why all of these ridiculous steps are scoffed at so heavily.

Official Windows 7 upgrade chart is ridiculous {Engadget}

Aug 6th 2009 7:00PM It's ridiculous because with a Mac one can insert a CD and upgrade his/her OS with just a few clicks of a button. Perhaps if Microsoft would make one version of the OS and put 32/64bit versions on one DVD (that would autodetect the require version, but still allow for a user to choose) they would have a more successful business model. Sure, they are in business new make money. However, I believe they would sell more copies of Windows 7 from the shelf if it were more user friendly to install. Could you imagine soccer moms being able to upgrade their own OS without the need of a tech-savvy family member?! What a beautiful world that would be. Make things simple, forget the need for a chart. One version. One DVD. That's what would slow Apple's progress on sneaking up behind MS.

Paramount flicks to see Blu-ray purchase, DVD rental availability ahead of DVD sale date {Engadget HD}

Jul 31st 2009 11:50AM Sounds great! I'm not sure about the 4-8 weeks timeline, though. I think one or two weeks would be sufficient for now. I want BD to take off, but 2 months is a terrible way to treat loyal DVD users.

Microsoft Store concept revealed in leaked design presentation? {Engadget}

Jul 24th 2009 8:55PM Look_Around_You,

I know you are still reading these comments because you take a ridiculous amount of offense to them (made evident by your numerous replies). I'd just like to say that M$ and Apple currently coexist in a market that obviously needs competition for the betterment of technology as a whole. Could you imagine a world where only one or the other existed? There would be no innovation, no competition to keep prices low, and most of all, no way to enjoy immature fanboy arguments on the internet!

I can tell you love you some Microsoft, that's fine! I just wanted to let you know that you've made me enjoy the first part of my Friday evening. I appreciate that!

With that being said, I hope these M$ stores do well, that means we can expect better things from Apple and their stores!

Microsoft Store concept revealed in leaked design presentation? {Engadget}

Jul 24th 2009 7:06PM A big room lined with wooden tables and some wooden table showcasing Surface and other goodies in the middle. Sounds a lot like another store I walked into... it showcased technology with beautiful simplicity and elegance. I can't remember the name of the store, but I am willing to bet that Microsoft has stolen from that company before...it seems they are getting good at it!

Wal-mart rolls back cheap Blu-ray player price to $98 {Engadget HD}

Jul 10th 2009 9:25AM This is good news for the format. I also noticed that my local Wal*Mart finally dropped its new release (Knowing, to be exact) BD Price to $24.95. I know that online the price has always been $24.95, but my local Wal*Mart has never dropped a new release below $29.99. This is good news! Of course all Wal*Marts are a bit different (depending on manager decision) when it comes to media prices, but I thought it was good to see mine drop down 5 bucks.

I will probably pick one of these players up on Black Friday and hope that it drops to $79.99 or something of that sort. I currently use a Sony BDP-S350 that I picked up for $149.99 when it was on sale on SonyStyle.com. I would love this unit as a backup BD Player to use in another room that doesn't contain my main equipment. I really don't care about perfect quality, I just need something that can read all of my media that I own in another room. That's the worst part about BluRay... I have no where else to watch my movies unless it's in my main entertainment room.

AT&T's iPhone 3G S launch day pre-orders already sold out {Engadget Mobile}

Jun 14th 2009 10:19AM For those of you wanting to preorder online and still receive the iPhone by the 19th, order from Apple's Online Store. I ordered one yesterday and was guaranteed a phone on/by June 19th. Of course, I will be out of town until Sunday, so it won't matter to me. But either way, I can't wait to increase my storage capacity from my old 4GB First Gen iPhone to 32GB.... Two years went by quickly!

Poll: Do you actually want to watch TV via your game console? {Engadget HD}

May 31st 2009 1:25PM Absolutely not. As I get older, I see that I play fewer and fewer games. I bought a Sony BD Player instead of a PS3 just because I used my 360 as my DVD player for a long time and absolutely hated it. A gaming console (with or without a normal remote) is still a gaming console. They are loud, bulky (for the most part), and most of the time lack the features of a stand alone unit.

I'm not a fan of gaming consoles being the only option for certain facets of an entertainment center (unless it's gaming, of course). However, they can stuff as much crap in there as they want... I just won't use it. It'd be nice of they would strip all of the extra junk off of them and sell them for a reasonable price so people that just want to play video games can do so at an understandable price point.
