Get a new 40GB PS3 system for $366 {PS3 Fanboy}
Apr 16th 2008 10:11AM DO IT!!!
I'm actually contemplating returning my 40Gigger and waiting for the 80GB Metal Gear bundle (not the grey). That way I get rumble AND BC. I have until May to return mine to Target.
Nielsen VideoScan High-Def market share for week ending March 23rd, 2008 {Engadget HD}
Mar 28th 2008 8:53PM Thanks for the BD vs DVD comparison. Although it's only top 20, still an impressive showing for BD. If this becomes the weekly norm, should be a fun chart to watch and flame each other with.
IR2BT Infrared-to-Bluetooth converter now on sale, PS3 owners rejoice {Engadget HD}
Mar 28th 2008 4:44PM Of course it is and it would be great if it became the standard. However SONY has proven they were not pushing a new standard, they were just being greedy/lazy/stupid.

Mar 28th 2008 4:40PM I have to disagree with you Chris. There's no incentive for remote companies to include BT and raise the cost of their devices for only one device. Let's face it, if SONY were leading the way of moving from IR to BT for controlling CE products, then yes I would completely agree with you. But SONY has not done this. They should have been adding BT on their latest TV's and Receivers but it goes to show you they were not trying to push a new technology for controlling CE products by using BT on the PS3, they were just being too cheap and lazy to include IR.
Manufactures need to come together and agree on one set standard for wirelessly controlling CE products to replace IR. Till that day comes, remote companies will stick to IR.

Mar 28th 2008 2:11PM Dear Justin,
How do you suppose we make a profit on this console? Had we included an IR receiver for a whole 2 cents additional cost, we wouldn't be able to gouge.. er, I mean offer a BT remote to customers for the low and fair price of $25. No one's buying games, no one wants to buy extra controllers, so what else do you propose we do? You should be thrilled that we don't charge our 8 customers anything for online play (yet). Try getting that kind of value from XBL.
You complain too much. Get a second job.
Sincerely,
SONY

Mar 28th 2008 1:57PM Sony should be offering a $50 instant rebate on this device as a token of goodwill for being too stupid and cheap to include an IR receiver on the PS3 in the first place. Plus another $20 for those who have already purchased their BT remote.

Mar 26th 2008 5:32PM Me likes how you think. Hell, if were paying a premium for HD, we should also get first dibs at a movies release.

Mar 26th 2008 5:17PM I would say both the THX scientist AND the analyst are talking out of their arses. Research firms and analysts are a dime a dozen so I always question their credibility (read: ignore them).
The THX scientist has been watching too many jetson's episodes. I'm not knocking the guys ideas, just the practicality of them. I don't question his expertise in the industry, but just because he's a scientist for THX doesn't make him an expert on what the best, most cost effective medium for distribution of HD movies is.
Given current trends, his idea that 128GB flash cards will be cheaper than BD discs in 2-3 years is just baseless.
