May 9th 2009 1:16PM Seems YMMV. I already have Turbo SilverHD package, went online, added Platinum. That added Speed and FX plus the actual Platinum channels. Was looking for MTVHD and VH1HD, but not seeing them. Was already getting Comedy Central HD. Also not seeing FoxNews HD.
I'll give it a half hour or so and keep checking. But wife was missing The Hills...

Apr 17th 2009 11:33AM They just offered it up. We had the original price for Unlimited Family Texting. I looked at the per line service, which would have been 4.99 x 3 lines. They offered the 9.99 price for all lines. You might want to check the price as well. If it's just you and your wife, the per line unlimited texting is cheaper, isn't it? If nothing else, they might offer you the same deal.

Apr 15th 2009 4:59PM I also have the Netgear Powerline HDs. 4 of them. They're good in a pinch when you either don't feel like running cat5e through walls or have a dead spot in your WiFi - but mainly for internet access. I tried running off of one adapter, into a 5 port Gigabit switch, and only got frustrated. Couldn't maintain consistent speeds.
There are tricks I've read about to make them work better. They did help too, but it was some work. Assigning static IPs to all pcs, testing plugs to find common circuits. I think we managed around 80Mpbs, but it was up and down. And then I started to wonder if they were interfering with our T-Mo VOIP service, but it's just T-Mo. They suck. I know... that's for Engadget Mobile. :)

Apr 15th 2009 3:03PM We were offered a Preferred plan: $49.99 for 600 Whenever Minutes, Nights/Weekends Unlimited, and I could have sworn we still had MyFaves. But I just checked and now under Services it says Minutes under MyFaves is N/A.
But looking at my bill it still shows "Pref myFaves feat SL myFaves Minutes Minutes Unlimited "

Apr 11th 2009 12:16PM That does seem unfair that those who choose the TurboHD packages, like us, aren't getting access to all these new HD channels. We'd like to have VH1 HD for some Best Week Ever laughs and Nick HD to add to the kids choices. I might call just to find out what the reason is behind it. Does anyone already know why?

Mar 4th 2009 5:52PM WDTV has been the easiest for us. I just periodically swap out mkvs for the newer releases but keep all the kids movies. Nothing else has to be on (Harmony takes care of that - WAF intact) and I don't have to have another PC running all day.
I need a larger usb hdd, but I also need to not get into keeping some of the media. Once we watch the newer releases, they're gone. (Rule Number of Fight Club.... etc etc)

Jan 29th 2009 1:05PM We found a great licensed electrician who was allowed to do side jobs by his employer. For $800, he ran a 2nd phone ext, ran all cat5e and coax to 5 rooms, installed a central box, ran coax out to exterior for sat dish feed, and had a guy redo the drywall with paint. 2 days and looks perfect. Builders will charge $3000+ or this. Anyone looking, try craigslist under Barter. He originally was going to do all this for a stove/dishwasher swap.

Jan 4th 2009 11:41PM Obviously the entry level cost of the hardware is not really the problem. it's the cost of the content that seems to be my main issue. Price per movie is still an issue for me and going subscription, maybe even just free access to the SD content and a discounted HD fee, would push me over the fence to buy in. Having access to a large part of the Disney catalog saves me from buying and backing up dvd's. My kids have their favorites and will ask to watch them in part or in whole numerous times a month.
Sticking to RedBox/DVDPlay/Netflix for now.
