ITC rules Samsung infringed on four Sharp patents, bans import of some LCDs {Engadget HD}

Nov 10th 2009 5:05PM Samsung finds that zero LCD flat-panel sales in the USA will not impact their business at all? That's like saying they were never selling them here to begin with.

Rocketfish wireless whole home audio system cuts the cord on all your speakers {Engadget HD}

Oct 23rd 2009 7:20PM What good is cutting the cord the signal is on if you still have to supply POWER by cord? Oops, I guess cowsumers (see Mark and Marshall above) will find this useful, but since a cord, or two, is already being run then I must be missing something.

Toshiba makes timid Blu-ray showing at IFA, still believes in other forms of HD distribution {Engadget HD}

Sep 4th 2009 2:52PM Yeah, its just that HD DVD ain't one of them. :)

AMIMON's second-gen WHDI spec does full uncompressed 1080p {Engadget HD}

May 2nd 2009 7:24PM They claim, but its not been proven. Much like projector and flat panel manufacturers making contract ratio claims knowing no one on the planet has the financial means to gain access to measuring equipment to prove their lies as such.

Western Digital finally releases the 1TB My DVR Expander, TiVo owners rejoice {Engadget HD}

Apr 22nd 2009 8:17PM I wonder if these will finally work on DirecTV's HRxx HD DVRs. They haven't in the past.

Crestron 200 Disc Blu-ray changer due in June {Engadget HD}

Apr 17th 2009 8:50PM 10 TB of disk space would cost $1,000. What numb nuts has allowed themselves to be kicked hard and long enough to be impressed with this over-priced boutique product?

Pioneer debuts $249.99 8x BDR-2203 internal Blu-ray burner {Engadget HD}

Apr 16th 2009 9:08PM Considering for this expenditure I can buy 2.5 Terabytes of disk space, I could conceivably rip 100 single-layer BD movies. Then considering the costs of writable single-layer BD media, I could buy a TB worth of additional disk space for every four-layers of equivalent capacity.

Then there is the whole darn question of BD media costs as a viable solution for movies unless you are a) personally authoring your own content, b) need a optical disk solution for mobility, and c) just cannot deal with mobile hard disk transport for one's mobility needs.

75-megawatt solar plant to power "first solar city" in Florida {Engadget}

Apr 11th 2009 8:40AM The math is definitely lost in translation. Read the article here: http://www.miamiherald.com/business/story/993255.html

How is it going to cost the average FPL customer in this Solar City $0.31 per month, yet its going to cost $300 Million to build? The project is to serve 19,500 homes. That means the average monthly revenue is going to be about $6,000 for those 19,500 homes in the Solar City.

$300 million financed over eternity at negative interest rate somehow is equating to an FPL (Florida Power & Light) monthly cost of $6K? What am I missing here?

Common sense or dillusional mathematics?

Time Warner Cable lays out broadband capping plans, says $150 for "unlimited" use {Engadget HD}

Apr 11th 2009 8:20AM Part of the problem is that cable operators are not Federally regulated. They pushed this down to the states, and they in turned pushed it onto the counties. Its a county-level franchise agreement. If your county doesn't care about you--except for your property taxes, of course--then you should fight the battle on the county level first.
