Poll: Were you / are you planning to buy a plasma? {Engadget HD}
Mar 1st 2009 11:15PM I do not plan on buying an LCD on any point in the future! I LOVE my Kuro and in the future will only look at plasma, projector or OLED. LCD's simply do not compare with detail reproduction, motion, let alone contrast.
Ask Engadget HD: What's the best "bedroom" HDTV? {Engadget HD}
Aug 20th 2008 12:38PM I used to have a 26" Panasonic LCD in my bedroom and it did a very good job. The only reason it is no longer there is because it has been replaced with a 42" Kuro. :D
Pioneer and Hitachi post losses, point the finger at plasma {Engadget HD}
May 14th 2008 3:20PM I agree with Andy. I returned my Sony XBR for a Kuro Plasma!
Ask Engadget HD: Is it finally safe to buy a Blu-ray player? {Engadget HD}
Feb 13th 2008 12:18PM It is somewhat safer to buy. Myself I do not look to get a stand alone blu ray player until a final profile has been out for awhile (and for sure the final version). On the flipside I will continue to enjoy my HD movies via my XA2 and my PS3. :D
Ask Engadget HD: What's the best universal remote out there? {Engadget HD}
Jan 23rd 2008 12:33PM My personal favorite is the Harmony 676. Great functionality, great feel in your hand and it controls all of my stuff effortlessly. I use it on my kdf55xs955, onkyo txsr 705, HD-XA2, PS3 (to turn on all other components as it is not bluetooth), Wii and an Xbox 360.
Ask Engadget HD: Which HD DVD player should I pick up for the holidays? {Engadget HD}
Dec 19th 2007 5:20PM I currently have an HD-A2 and will soon be picking up an HD-XA2 for my other system.
Panasonic's DMP-BD30 already making the rounds {Engadget HD}
Nov 15th 2007 4:27PM I picked up this player as soon as Circuit City got them in. It is an incredible player!!! Fast boot/load times. I now own this, a PS3 for blu-ray and the few games which are out for it and an A2. I prefer blu-ray because of the titles which are out for it, however there are a good amount of titles out on HD which I want to watch as well. Personally I am very pleased with the playback from all of the players, impressive sound quality.
@ Navstar. Personally region free means nothing to me. I have nothing that will require a player to require this, however it could be a decent feature for some people.
Poll: Did you buy a HD DVD player this week? {Engadget HD}
Nov 5th 2007 4:05PM I love my blu ray collection, but the offer of owning many of my other favorite movies in hd for this price was to good to pass up. I bought mine at Circuit City where they are offering 3 free HD DVDs with purchase of a player. I paid 109 for an A-2 and got Tokyo Drift, Fearless, Transformers and 5 free via mail in rebate.
DisplaySearch forecasts bright future for plasma displays {Engadget HD}
Nov 3rd 2007 11:07AM It is extremely rare that you will ever burn in a plasma. For example I tested my Panasonic (after the first 100 hours) and left a Nintendo Wii on there for 8 hours and there was not even a hint on image retention let alone burn in. I have have ever witnessed a friends Sharp Auqos LCD that had "burned in" after a period of watching ESPN.
Panasonic's DMP-BD30 Blu-ray player already reviewed {Engadget HD}
Nov 1st 2007 12:05AM @ DeadPlasmaCell, 7.4 for a player is pretty impressive. Cnet rates items fair and hard. For example the XA2 ranks in at a 7.3 from Cnet. Myself I prefer blu-ray because of the content (Disney/Pixar), however I also use HD DVD and like both formats. I look forward to seeing great things from both formats and think both will be around for a long time to come.
