Best Buy partnering with CinemaNow to stream first-run DVDs to 'all web-connected devices sold' {Engadget HD}
Nov 3rd 2009 5:08PM I wonder if this is something that will be included on the BB branded Tivo.
Ask Engadget HD: Is it (still) a good time to buy a TiVo? {Engadget HD}
Oct 29th 2009 6:36PM Personally for me at this point, I would rent a cable company DVR until CES. With CES around the corner, I think it is foolish to buy anything at this point.
By CES we will probably have a better idea on the cost of a Ceton card. Hopefully we will have more information on the Directivo due out in early 2010. There is also the Best Buy branded Tivo, and the slim chance of a series 4 or at least a refreshed Tivo HD.
With the limited information in the question, I don't know if you can truly give a great recommendation. Yeah I love my Tivos, but if I was only recording OTA I wouldn't need them. At the same time I want more tuners to handle more conflicts and record more shows so I am looking at Win7MC+Ceton instead of adding another Tivo. I record a ton of shows so I want the space to hold them all which again goes to Win7MC. If I was only recording a handful of shows where the limited hard drive space of the stock Tivo drive would suffice and I only needed it in one room, I would probably just go with the cable company DVR unless you find a great deal on a Tivo like one on clearance at Sears if they are even still any left.
Poll: What part of your home theater is getting upgraded this holiday season? {Engadget HD}
Oct 12th 2009 12:32AM My plan is to buy a Plasma to upgrade at least one of my CRTs to HD.

Oct 8th 2009 11:00PM I'll take a DSG in either a 2 door or 4 door to replace my 08 R32. No DSG is no sale for me and if there isn't I don't know what my next car will be.
Poll: What's the most you'd pay for a quad HDTV tuner with CableCARD? {Engadget HD}
Sep 14th 2009 3:54PM I put $400 as my max price point since $100 a tuner, but I would definitely be more interested at $299. With a Tivo HD retailing for $299, I think that is the price you have to aim for.
I know when I bought my Tivo HDs if there was a quad tuner available for the same price I would have looked into it over a second Tivo since I already have a networked 360.
If it was higher than $400 I would probably hold off as much as I want one. I might even look into buying an OEM version depending on price since if I am already spending $400-500 I might as well look into buying a built HTPC so I can get it with 6 tuners or 12 once I get some clearqam tuners added.
Poll: What's the most you'd pay for a quad HDTV tuner with CableCARD? {Engadget HD}
Sep 14th 2009 3:35PM Try 4 tuners not one hence the quad part.
Poll: What's the most you'd pay for a quad HDTV tuner with CableCARD? {Engadget HD}
Sep 14th 2009 3:31PM Well except cable you would only pay that fee once for 4 tuners versus a $99-$199 lease fee on top of the $5 fee per receiver to use the service you already pay for.
Steve Jobs says iPod touch didn't get a camera because "it's a great game machine" {Engadget}
Sep 10th 2009 1:00AM If they really wanted to offer a cheap alternative, they should have offered a cheaper classic. I don't want a touch and I don't really need 160gb. Why not an 80gb for $149 or even 120gb for $199?
Media Center CableCARDs freed from OEM requirement {Engadget HD}
Sep 9th 2009 8:45PM Maybe it is something built into Windows 7 that satisfies the cable labs requirement such as playready.

Sep 9th 2009 7:44PM I am definitely excited though. Now we just need price drops and multiple tuners on a single card.
