BlackBerry Storm 9530 for Verizon gets boxed {Engadget Mobile}

Aug 29th 2008 9:50AM No kidding. What IS it about Blackberry posts here at Engadget that pulls the retards out of the woodwork? I haven't seen so many stupid and blatently false information comments on a post here in a LONG time...
Geez people, how about you get a freakin' CLUE what you're talking about before you open mouth and insert foot!

BlackBerry Storm 9530 for Verizon gets boxed {Engadget Mobile}

Aug 29th 2008 9:44AM @gareth:
You're an idiot. VZW monetizes everything about every device they sell, but they sure as hell didn't "remove" wifi from any Blackberry they offer. Not a single Blackberry model that's ever had a CDMA chipset in it has EVER had a WiFi chipset in it too.

Palm Treo 800w and Treo Pro accessories revealed, boredom hard to fend off {Engadget Mobile}

Aug 29th 2008 9:37AM What an assinine post. You guys jump on Palm for not offering an extended battery? Where's your similar outrage against Apple, Rim, SonyEricson, Motorola, Nokia, etc.??? Could you at least TRY to be a little bit fair in your coverage even when you so obviously HATE anything Palm related???

Verizon's FiOS TV expansions: August 23, 2008 {Engadget HD}

Aug 26th 2008 3:16PM What IS it with this lame-ness of their multi-room DVR:
"• Programs recorded in Hi-Def cannot be played back on remote
Set Top Boxes.
• HD Set Top Boxes (model 6200) cannot be used as part of a
Multi-Room network."

Seems any of US would need multiple DVR's, still.

Unboxing and hands-on: Sprint's AIRAVE femtocell {Engadget Mobile}

Aug 13th 2008 11:58AM I like the concept of a femtocell and have anticipated their US availability. What I do NOT like though is Sprint wanting to CHARGE ME for improving THEIR coverage! My take on the whole femtocell issue is that the carrier's should be subsidizing these and actually offering ME a sliding scale discount (minutes don't count against MY monthly limit as long as I'm on MY femto). How to deal with that if some OTHER Sprint user is hitting my femto I don't know though.

Another thing to consider: This is a CDMA femtocell. So in THEORY at least, with Sprint having CDMA agreements with other CDMA carriers (i.e. Verizon, Alltel, etc.), would those carrier customers also be able to get on my femto?

Oh, and someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but this thing ONLY deals with voice/SMS coverage (via CDMA), it doesn't deal with EV-DO data at all as I understand the technology.

Colleges throwing in high-def amenities to lure in millennials {Engadget HD}

Aug 8th 2008 2:54PM For real! Why can't students bring their OWN damn LCD if they're so intent on wasting their parents money? I can see it now, some punk a few years from now blaming that fact that he/she flunked out/didn't graduate because the university provided a HDTV that took up all his studying time.

DISH Network might attempt DirecTV merger again? {Engadget HD}

Aug 7th 2008 4:09PM True guys, but even lobbyists couldn't stop XM-Sirius, try as they might for month after month. I too think XM-Sirius going through is what makes even considering a Dish-DirecTV merger feasible now.

Richmond, VA's NBC12 flips on high-definition newscasts {Engadget HD}

Aug 4th 2008 12:05PM I contacted my local NBC station, WRC NBC 4 out of Washington DC, in light of this and the WAVY announcement. Unfortunately, the response from their Director of Technology and Broadcast Engineering was "At this time we have no set plan to broadcast our news in high definition. We are hoping for next year." So, no NBC HD love for Northern Virginia (all we get in HD is the local CBS affiliate).
