Yahoo! recommends Toshiba's HD-A3 as husband's Valentine's Day gift {Engadget HD}

Feb 11th 2008 11:23AM I'm about as neutral as they get - but what kind of anti-HD DVD post was this?! Jeez...

The Yahoo guy probably recommended it because of its cheap price and free movie pack-ins. There's nothing wrong with that.

I never listened to many who would accuse this site of favoritism - but now I think it is very safe to assume this site is not objective. That's fine, I guess.

LG's BH200 HD DVD / Blu-ray combo player set for October {Engadget HD}

Sep 5th 2007 9:02AM I'd be willing to bite if the price was a little lower - doesn't LG know its competing with Samsung now?

The Samsung player looks gorgeous and seems practically perfect for this point in player standards. If the LG doesn't have a lower price, I don't know why the hell any of us would buy it over the Sammy.

Major anime studios split on HD DVD / Blu-ray decision {Engadget HD}

Jul 18th 2007 10:06AM I had comments and info to share to provide further evidence - but I think the 3 above posts wrap this story up nicely. It is a much, MUCH, clearer advantage or "win" for blu-ray in terms of anime being released on HD media. HD DVD is actually quite lucky that they've got Freedom and these other handful of titles now, because every other account would summarily point to the future of anime being almost entirely only "blu"...

Samsung's BD-P2400 and BD-P1400 third-gen Blu-ray players {Engadget HD}

Jul 12th 2007 8:46AM ****ing hilarious, Will. I LMAO.

Seriously though, if these do not have 1.1 plus a net port - then most of us will be sticking with the somewhat future proof PS3.

I guess, if these are their summer slate then there might be a winter line-up as well? A new thread I saw on another forum had people predicting that a good, full & final-spec BD standalone under $300 street would be available by the end of December - I hope that's true...

Deals of the Day: "Factory renewed" Series 3 TiVo - 499; Refurbished HD-A1 - $199 {Engadget HD}

Jun 19th 2007 9:47AM Somewhat hard to buy even these cheap HD DVD players after yesterday's Blockbuster news...

Blockbuster chooses Blu-ray: is the war over? {Engadget HD}

Jun 18th 2007 1:23PM I know what HD DVD can do to counter this! The HD DVD promotional group should spend all their money to...

GO ON THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW! When Oprah has a big show about HD DVD and says "You know, America, I prefer Toshiba - YES!" - it'll brain-wash the whole nation. The show will be all fancy with the Oprah music/promotion and it'll end with her going "AND......EVERYBODY IN THE AUDIENCE GETS ONE!!!" The whole crowd will then pass out with joy for something they can barely understand.

American housewives will buy it for their fathers, sons, and husbands as if it was the only thing that exists. All Oprah needs is her little brain-washing tactics and maybe an interview with Matthew McConaughey wearing a tight black & red HD DVD shirt and pretending to be an HD DVD rep...AND THEN IT'S ALL OVER for blu-ray... :D

LG countersues Hitachi for PDP patent infringement... sigh {Engadget HD}

Jun 18th 2007 12:38PM LOL, great logo for this story!

PS3 pulls a 180: v1.81 firmware to fix RGB color space settings {Engadget HD}

Jun 15th 2007 12:50PM I guess this is good and all - but jeez, does anybody remember the days when we felt like we didn't have to worry about firmware upgrades, specific TV brand to device capability, advanced testing, and heavy calibration to enjoy "the best" picture?

The PS3, etc would naturally be much more attractive to me without all the "over-head" worrying required to know if it is fully functional, future proof, or outputing at max capability.
