Feb 12th 2008 3:51PM It looks like the HD DVD group does everything to make HD affordable to the masses and they succeed. With much lower player prices and lower disc prices already available. Don't give up on them yet!

Feb 11th 2008 2:31PM Altough Blu-ray is on top ATM, I Wouldn't mind getting this HD DVD player for free. There are still hundreds of HD DVD titles out there.

Universal exec says studio and HD DVD are moving forward {Engadget HD}

Jan 22nd 2008 3:28PM I still have hopes the HD DVD format will live on someway. One of the hidden gems of HD DVD is the ability for homebrew developers to make games and other applications. Because you don't even need to mux stuff to do this or learn complex time costing BDJ code. Programming HD DVD advanced applications is so much faster and easier with HDi (Jscipt+XML+Xpath).

Jan 18th 2008 7:32AM With all those bargains a lot more people will own an HD DVD player. Which should mean more HD DVD movies will be sold. But will that make Warner purple again, I don't think so. Does HD DVD really need Warners support? maybe not..

Toshiba's HD-A2 HD DVD player going for a mere $199 {Engadget HD}

Jun 11th 2007 10:55AM You're forgetting that replication costs for HD DVD are much lower. HD DVD doesn't require AACS protection with BD it's mandatory. HD DVD is region free (which is nice for the customer, buy one in Japan, play one in Scotland). HDi is much simpeler then BD-J and less time expensive.

Blu-ray has also many advantages over HD DVD like more disc space and exclusive support from several large movie studios.

Personally I like both formats since they basically do the same thing and quallity is almost the same. Just hope more and cheaper players come out soon.
