The first week numbers are in and they're pretty good --
Michael Bay's latest movie moved 500,000 Blu-ray Discs in one day and a total of 1.2 Million for the week. Now we didn't go back and compare that to previous years, but that is without a doubt the best week any Blu-ray title has had this year, so we'd assume its safe to say this is the best selling Blu-ray title of all time -- in its first week anyways. Love it or hate it, there were plenty of people willing to run out the first week and buy this movie. This has to ease the minds of Paramount execs at least a little bit. Too bad for Hollywood that this will probably be as good as it gets this year, although we admit the movies we're looking forward to on Blu-ray still remain unreleased.

I had super low expectations and actually kind of liked the movie in the theater (uh, except all the dog humping, leg humping, big balls, women-as-objects, jar jar x 2 robots... didn't realize Michael Bay was only 14).
But watching the Blu-ray the second time around, MAN! The awful really stands out!
I thought it had a good story, but it was buried beneath the poor execution.
OTOH, the Blu-ray has great audio and video quality. The Lossless audio really rocks.

Michael Bay needs to cut down on the jokes and the funny stuff off the movie, could've saved us about 30 to 45 min. Good action and that always moving Camera just did not sit right with me.....JMHO

I didn't think the action was that great. It was more so the quality of the CGI. The robot fights were about as effective as throwing a piles of metal together.

Stick with Lost S3! I've got one more episode to go and then on to S4. And spend $50 for the Blu Ray - I have all 4 seasons and they are the most beautiful damn things you ever saw(or heard - the lossless soundtracks are terrific)!

Ok so the plot wasnt that great.
But the surround sound is the best Ive heard and the picture was great. It was the most i have enjoyed my home theater in a long time.
Yet I wouldnt buy it, but it was well worth renting the bluray.

I don't know how anyone with a hdtv and home theater doesn't own this movie. The picture and sound is epic. All six of the star wars movies had awful acting yet everyone loves star wars. It's a pocorn flick... What do you really expect from a movie about giant robots from a 80's cartoon that was full of goofiness.

The first Transformers was pretty good entertainment, but the story line in this is just plain awful, way to long, very drawn out and boring..... and why the lowering of standards for a family movie, the dog humping and stoned mother stuff was a let down for a parent with kids.

An IQ over 30? That's rich. Don't blame me because a kids/teenager targeted movie is cleaning up $$$ wise at the boxoffice and on home video. Maybe people in general are sick of a lot of the boaring BS that comes out of Hollywood these days? Maybe it takes a movie like this that is an assult on the senses with great special effects to get people out out of their homes and into the theater.
Oh well, I guess not everyone can be happy. :)

Just because the masses like something, or listen to the promotional hype does not mean a movie is any good. Transformers 2 is a dumb, badly scripted, poorly acted and badly directed movie. Yes it has good effects, yes it has lots of explosions but the movie as a whole is generally regarded as dreadful.
There is no excuse for this either. Lots of movies demonstrate you can have a good plot, script, acting, direction etc. AND it does not have to be at the expense of special effects either. Pixar demonstrates that with every movie they make.
If the only criteria to measure a movie by is explosions per second, then Michael Bay is the director for you. If you want a movie that makes sense, or tries to connect emotionally, or features good acting then he most certainly is not.

1st... if you did buy this movie i hope you got the wal-mart version because they are the only ones to have the IMAX versions, yeah its not much but it is better.
2nd... I also agree that their are other movies with better sound and picture with better plots, like every Pixar movie made, Casino Royale, the first Transformers movie, I even like the Pirates movies, maybe not the 3rd one.

an opinion seems more like "i don't see what all the fuss is about" or "the image quality didn't live up to the hype for me". even better, "i never cared for the movie in the first place". or...something pertaining to actually what (i thought) these forums are about. helping people, sharing ideas and obtaining useful information.
someone has to sift through 60 posts of "i thought the movie is complete crap and you shouldn't have bought the movie" to find 1 post that can give some actual insight to someone that's interested in purchasing the movie.
this particular post is about the blu-ray, not the film it's self or your siskel and ebert type of "opinion".
a constructive seems more like:
"i've got a PS3 slim, bit stream to onkyo 805 outputting a deftech procinema 1000 5.1 system, hdmi to panny 1080p plasma and my image quality seems good, but i'm not getting the sound i thought i'd get. 300 sounds wicked on my system. any suggestions?"
something as easy as "the first transformers seemed to be a better blu-ray transfer to me. i haven't changed my system since the first one was released. i hope your results are better than mine".
i could go on.

Yeah, I do have a suggestion, 2 actually.
First one is stop acting like a school girl, your getting your pee in a froth over nothing! Second one is to buy a decent amp(s) and hook it up to your pre out on the Onk. I hooked up a Rotel pre amp and power amp to my Onk, the difference is HUGE.
Receivers are OK for sound, if you want the goods, you need to specialize.

This just proves what we have always known, that PS3 is the most sold blu ray player by far and is mostly owned by teenage boys. There is no other explanation why this movie sold so well.
By the way...the first Transformers was not bad.
