every other optical disc out there that claims to hold a
near-infinite amount of data, we're still skeptical about TDK's ability to actually bring to market the
320GB spinner you see above. But hey -- it's got ten 32GB layers and it's practically see-through. Did you really expect us to walk on by without clicking the shutter even once? Exactly.

320Gb??? Holy cow! It's an external hard drive on a disc.
But how much will it cost?
I mean I have seen 1Tb external HD down to $90 these days...

It probably isn't for domestic use but for data centers and the like. Optical / magnetic media is the safest way to back up large amounts of data so the more you can cram on a disk, the better.

I hope they plan on a new drive technology to go with these things. It would be nice to be able to replace the tape backups with these. We'd reclaim tons of physical space once those LTO2's expire.
