Happy 3rd birthday Engadget HD!
Yes we can't believe it either, but as of today we're officially done with the terrible twos. Although we haven't always made it easy on our parents, we have tried to make them proud since our first post 36 months ago by bringing all of you the best HD news coverage we can. In that time we've written over 11,672 posts and recorded 125 Podcasts, which is pretty crazy. We have to say that we've had so much fun hitting the HD news you love, we can't even believe its been that many. We also look forward to many more years of HD goodness, but of course none of this would be possible without all of you Engdaget HD readers. So go ahead and give yourselves a pat on the back -- and then get back to reading.

Congrats guys. Keep up the good work and here's to 3 more years of HD goodness

"brining"
Does no one proof-read the posts before they go online? There are always a million spelling or grammar errors and frankly I'm blown away that this many always get through. How about a second read through or have someone else do a quick proof-read of your work before posting? OK? OK!
Wryker @ Sep 22nd 2009 4:21PM
But they're only two years old!! How many two year olds do you know that can spell correctly?
tony @ Sep 22nd 2009 4:25PM
Good point!
Money Mike @ Sep 24th 2009 1:34PM
That you, tony. I'm glad I'm not the only one trying to make these guys step up their game. So far they've ignored every single comment I or anyone else has ever written about the grammar mistakes that happen far too often. Everyone makes mistakes, but the rate of how often it occurs on this site is just horrendous. What's worse is that they never get corrected.
This just isn't the type of website where shaving a minute or two off of the time it takes to go live means anything, so there's just no excuse for the laziness. Even if that were the case, why don't they just fix it afterward (especially since one of us usually points it out).
I admit I don't know what tool is used when writing a blog, so I don't know if errors are easy to spot (like how they're underlined in Firefox). If spelling and grammar checking is not built-in to whatever is being used, though, I always suggest doing a simple copy/paste to check it in MS Word.
If - for some reason - that is too much work, then at the very least they should be reading it back to themselves before hitting that submit button.
Gasz @ Sep 22nd 2009 4:25PM
Tony save that for some review of newest HD DVD player, this is a time to let the guys enjoy this milestone.
Congrats guys!
tony @ Sep 22nd 2009 4:33PM
I guess maybe that was bit of a 'party pooper' move on my part. My bad.
OK, Engadget. I'm a big fan and congratulations are in order. Good job making it three years! At the end of the day I guess I would rather have you as a cousin, even if you are a semi-retarded cousin, than not have you at all. :-)
Gasz, is that better?
DEEZNUTZ @ Sep 22nd 2009 4:50PM
Dude, why the douchebaggery? Seriously, now you just look starved for comment section attention.
tony @ Sep 22nd 2009 5:02PM
Douchebaggery? That is rich coming from a guy who's handle is "DEEZNUTZ".
And for your information, people bag on Engadget all the time for their opinions. I am not doing anything like that. I am merely pointing out that they need to up their professionalism and edit their postings if they expect to be taken seriously and make it another three years. And my comment about being a "retarded cousin" was supposed to be a humorous way to get that message across. Lighten up and take a fucking chill pill already Mr. NUTZ.
Gasz @ Sep 22nd 2009 5:06PM
I think the guys will know what you really mean.
DEEZNUTZ @ Sep 22nd 2009 5:19PM
"...was supposed to be a humorous ..."
There's the key douche... you're trying too hard, so just quit it.
BTW, glad you like my name!
tony @ Sep 22nd 2009 6:06PM
Wow, did you come up that super witty reply on your own? You sure are cool.
Now piss off and find something better to do with your time, like maybe your usual: sniffing glue or tampons.
Money Mike @ Sep 24th 2009 1:42PM
Sorry, DEEZNUTZ (nice name, btw), but you're the one who's trying too hard. And for what? So you can defend laziness? I like this site too, but I'd like it even more if they proofread their blogs so they looked professional.
Just as bad as that is the fact that they don't engage their readers whatsoever. I could be wrong, but it appears as if they submit a story, walk away, and never come back to read any comments. Almost every other blog I read has comments from the author mixed in with those from the readers. Of course, that would explain why the grammatical errors never get fixed... the authors don't know because they don't even bother to read when we point them out.
TrueEddie @ Sep 22nd 2009 5:01PM
Congrats eHD! Been following since near the beginning and it's been a great read.
rkolsen @ Sep 22nd 2009 5:57PM
Is it wrong that I still type in HDBeat.com when I want to visit Engadget HD.
Rucker @ Sep 22nd 2009 6:06PM
And wasn't hdbeat.com around in 2005? Do people get to reset their age when changing names, too?
Ben @ Sep 22nd 2009 6:31PM
We like to think it was more than just a name change, but yeah HD Beat was started in the Summer of 2005.
