Vudu on the LG BD390 will bitstream Dolby Digital Plus
We just heard back from Vudu and there's good news. Unlike any other implementation before it, Vudu on the LG BD390 will bitstream Dolby Digital Plus via the HDMI 1.3 port to your AVR. In addition, if you prefer LPCM the BD390 can decode the Dolby Digital Plus track in the Vudu stream as well. This is much better than the LG HDTVs or even the Vudu box itself, which were only capable of re-encoding the stream down to old school Dolby Digital before delivering it to the receiver. We were also directed to this FAQ on Vudu's site which includes all the bit rates for various quality video; interestingly it looks like you need between 4.5 and 9 Mbps of throughput to enjoy moves in HDX quality.

Cool. I think this LG is shaping up to be my next Blu-ray play. Netflix, Vudu and Pandora are really great bonus adds to what is otherwise a super fast, full featured device. The fact that I can get it at Amazon for $250 right now is really tempting. I don't rent movies digitally that often but its really nice to have on demand rentals for the few times you really want to (family drops by, etc). And Vudu seems to be delivering the best audio and visual quality in that regard.

Just make sure to stay away from the light reflecting mirror that is the bezel on most new television.
That's a sure way to ruin a movie, seeing reflections of everything around the screen.

Interesting info on the bitrates. Definiately significantly higher than other streaming providers. 9mpbs is

One needs to ask themselves these questions before they are about having DD+ bit streamed.
1. Is my receiver a good sounding receiver so that I will hear the difference between standard dolby digital and +?
2. Are my speakers good quality? (if you are rocking Bose, or those $199.00 htib setups, dd+ is a waist of time.)

4 to 9mbps is pretty low consider some dvd has similar data.
