These two are the latest addition to the
Nevo remote family. First up is the one of the left, which is the C3 and sells for $299. What's really cool here is that it not only works with an optional RF base ($99) but it will also directly control 3rd party RF hardware like the DirecTV DVR. What's also a welcomed addition beyond what the competition offers is that not only can program with a nice web GUI, but you can also program it directly -- so without a computer. The IR only C2 looks much like the C3, but is only $229, the 2.2 inch color screen isn't touch sensitive and it uses standard batteries rather than the rechargeable type included in the C3.

For most operations you need but one hand -- all the hard keys are within thumb reach.. Only if you need to use the softkeys do you need two hands, but that will always be the way since you (ironically) cannot find the touchscreen buttons by touch.

What's the deal? Who is making these remotes? Because they look very similar to the AR Excite remotes that are already out. Lots of owners in the AVS forums have had some gripes about them too. Hmmmm?

These are identical hardware to the AR Xsights. However, as one of the people with gripes, I believe that the gripes are all based on the horrid web setup that AR provides. The remotes seem capable of many things that the web setup does not provide for, or badly manages, or otherwise gets in the way of.
It would be interesting to see if Universal does better, or if it is the same bad web setup with a different name.

Nothing could be worse than Logitech/Harmony's Web UI. Just had to completely reprogram from scratch my H One today, because all the commands just stopped working. Not to mention their horrible device library.
I'm interested in anything now, except Harmony's new $400 model. Well Logitech/Harmony period.

same exact web interface as the AR ,
horrible remote.
i used to sell a lot of higher end nevo products . .
but after this i really lost faith in them.
you cant use two RF Bases in the same area,
(in other words you cant use two RF setups in the same house)
because they interfere with eachother . . they are not addressable,
and any command send will goto any RF bases in the area.
meaning both remotes would control both RF bases,
unintentionally . .
this is one remote per house and thats it.
f'n lame.

Actually, the remote is rather great. I have yet to see the actual remote fail to do something as programmed. The web interface often makes that hard (or impossible as in the case of multiple RF units). Obviously the hardware can do multiple RF -- it's just the code being sent -- but the web designers need to be fired. Pitiful and incompetent setup.
