The best HD sports on TV this week

First up this week -- yes our week starts on Thursday right along with football -- is the very first real football game of the season, and one that is near and dear to a member of our team. On the same night, but way too late for any east coaster, is the first ranked CFB matchup of the season with Oregon vs Boise State -- also happens to be the only tough game on Boise's schedule, gotta love CFB. Now if you want to see if college kickers can kick as high as those in the NFL, you might want to check out BYU vs Sooners which will take place in Cowboys Stadium, home of the biggest HD screen in football. Then of course there is the labor day college football tradition of Miami vs FSU, where all the parties involved hope it won't be a battle of the mediocre, again. The NFL closes out its pre-season on the NFL Network where the Eagles will face the Jets and we'll get our last look at Vick before he finishes his three game regular season suspension. And of course baseball is still on as the Red Sox play the White Sox for what is probably their 20th meeting this season.

Football definitely rules in HD. The first HD footage I ever saw was a looped video of a football game at RC Willey about 10 years ago and have been in love with HD ever since.

The broadcast (SCAR @ NCSU) may have been in HD, but the game being played was definitely SD. Seriously, THAT is what we've been waiting for all summer? It was like watching paint dry.

Anything for us folks without pay tv?
David @ Sep 4th 2009 9:48AM
Really? BYU vs Oklahoma is a better game to watch in your eyes than Bama - VT? And its on OTA HD as well....

Football is the best sport to watch in HD, except not american football... Soccer is honestly the best sport to watch in HD, I believe the NFL is a very close second. HD soccer (English premier league, la liga, or serie A and FIFA tournaments) is exceptionally beautiful and is perfect for watching in HD.

Yaaaaaaaaawwwwwnnnnn. Sorry? Soccer? And people say baseball is a slow sport...
Vic @ Sep 4th 2009 1:10PM
I'll take soccer over baseball any day of the week.
Also, for any Syracuse (or Gopher fans I guess) fans out there, ESPN2HD will have Syracuse vs Minnesota at Noon on Saturday.

Sorry, but Tennis gains the most over it's SD counterpart hands-down. US Open early round play is going on and is far more exciting than any of this 'foot balls' you speak of.
DWAnderson @ Sep 10th 2009 6:56PM
Right on.
