To say that Panasonic's
existing lineup of V10 NeoPDP sets were
widely adored would be grossly understating things, so it makes sense to see the outfit unleash two new sizes in the family over at
IFA. In the midst of mindless bragging about a
Full HD 3D system that absolutely no one will be interested in until 3D content delivery is sorted, Panasonic has managed to confess that two new V10 sizes will be produced. If you'll recall, the set was already available in 42- and 50-inch flavors, but if those just felt too small for your palatial den, the new 58- (TX-P58V10E) and 65-inch (TX-P65V10E) models just might fit the bill. Specs wise, everything here will remain the same; a 1080p panel, 600Hz sub-field drive technology, VIERA CAST functionality for pulling in web content, THX certification and a laughable dynamic contrast ratio of over 2,000,000:1. There's no exact mention of a price or release date, but you can bet we'll be hounding the booth attendants for those tidbits as soon as we track 'em down.

I got excited when I saw the mention of a 42" version of the V10 series, then realized that the 42" model seems to be only available in Europe and the UK. Am I the only one that would like to see a 42" V10 become available in the US?

I'll second that -- I have a relatively small apartment, so I'd rather have something in the 42" - 46" range.

i realized now, this must have been relatively unannounced as i've seen this on a couple websites this morning. if i would have known, i would have sent you guys some info. these bigger v10's were found in the best buy stock system a little over a month ago. 2 or 3 weeks ago, one of the magnolia best buys in buffalo, ny had the 65" on display. if you check around you should be able to find this TV now or extremely soon.

These have been shipping from various online retailers for a few weeks now.

MSRP should be as follows
TC-P58V10 $2699.98
TC-P65V10 $3999.98

I think I just found my next TV.
foto_Dog @ Sep 3rd 2009 10:42AM
OK, so these are already out, or does the E designator indicate something additional to the current V10 line. I'm a bit confused.

There is also a 54" model available.

These two will probably put the final nail in the coffin of DLP's from Mits and Sammy, as if they needed another nail. Perhaps a street price of say $2200 and $3100? Sweet!
Eric @ Sep 3rd 2009 3:52PM
How will this affect the DLPs? They are in a completely different price class. There are a lot of people for whom a DLP is the perfect fit. You can get a 65 for as little as $1300. Nothing else can beat that yet.

I picked my 58" up 2 weeks ago at Brandsmart here in Atlanta. Walk out price of $2399 WITH a 5 year warranty. IT was the same price that best Buy had online before a warranty. AND best Buy had none available in stores or online to ship. This is a wonderful set. I tried doing a calibration with DVE Blu-Ray and in "standard" mode, the only change I had to make was to push Color about 8 steps up. You really do have to see this TV to believe it. It really is hard to imagine the Kuro being better. And at 1/3 the price.
This news really is a bit old...

I am a bit confused now, too about the "e". There's no mention of ANY tv on the Panasonic site with the V10E designation. Is this a European designation?

EPIC FAIL ENGADGETHD!! Get it together, My 65" V10 is sitting in my living room. You guys are weak!
Jerry @ Sep 4th 2009 1:48PM
The one thing I am confused about is Darren's use of the "E" designation on the model number. Where did that come from? It's not the model number unless that is the European designation and does not apply to the US. No where is that number listed on Pan's website. At least not for the US.
