TViX 6600N HD media streamer exposed early (w/ video)
DViCO is back with yet another media streaming box, this time the TViX 6600N, spied by HomeTheater.co.il. What we can find of the specs indicates a worthy followup to the earlier 6500, with dual tuner DVR, HD video decoding, UPnP access, BitTorrent and claimed fast boot time. It's powered by the Realtek 1283 chipset and includes Wireless-N support. Check the video (it's in English) for a quick demo of the box itself and menus, the only bad news to report is a distinct lack of a price tag and any hope we'll ever see this in the U.S.

Needs BD or BD .Iso support like C-200 .. Where is that darn thing ? months and months of waiting

Is there not enough market for these things in the US?
Popcorn Hour sounds great if it wasn't overpriced or had a decent interface from what I've read. At $400, you could build a computer that will do way more.
It's getting to be more frustrating then anything else.

Well #1 it is not $400 it is $299 ...
Not sure you could .. @ $400 .. Bluray would shudder all over and not sure you could get the DTS HD and DD HD Lossless audio ..
Maybe but it would be tough and look like crap

The basic Dell mini tower is $269. Add a decent sound card and a 2nd hard drive and you're at $400.
I swear the C-200 was $299 without a HD or blu-ray.

I built a pc with blu-ray playback that works great for way less than $400. Getting the PowerDVD to work without crashing and having to reinstall it, is another story.

Well i have a PS3 for blu ray (only for Blu Ray ..) .. I have a Pretty sweet PC with a BD rom drive .. and a PCH A-100 ... I watch .M2TS backups from my BD's from AnyDVD HD .. All i want is a PCH C-200 so i can watch BD .ISO backups ... If you can make a sweet Media PC for $400 sweet ... I just need something for Bd .Iso's
EM1 @ Aug 13th 2009 6:36PM
Very nice. Blu-ray playback isn't needed. Just something that can play back anything I throw at it and do so with minimal effort and without crashing.

And the award for underwhelming industrial design goes to... Seriously, are there not a lot of people who can design a nice case on this planet?

I own a Tvix 6500 and regret that. Yes it can play movies, audio and show pictures but that is all you get; GUI is crappy, no web services like streaming youtube videos, etc..At first i thought, well, it's not so bad, maybe after month or so they will improve everything...sure...in your dreams. - 2 firmware updates per year? You MUST Be Kidding Me. What they should do is to give firmware sources to the OpenTvix community, there are a lot of people who care. Shame dvico. I'm 100% sure that the same will happen and with 6600N.

-->Still no digital out on WMA or AAC (so, no 5.1 AAC, which is sad)
