You just knew that Texas Instruments wasn't going to leave the 4k cinema projector market to
SXRD, right? Sure enough, TI unveiled its DLP Cinema 4k technology and announced that Barco, Christie and NEC will be sprinkling the new tech across more than a dozen new projectors. Now, if TI would get serious about 3-chip DLP
consumer solutions -- not even 4k -- we'd be out of our seats (or maybe the movie house's). Until then, we'll have to settle for the possibility that the lowered costs of the next generation of the DLP Cinema platform will allow for more screens to go digital. One thing's for sure -- those
IMAX DLP setups need all the pixels they can get.

Yes, three chip LED or Laser based consumer systems would be awesome. Too bad DLP rear projection systems are all but dead. TI really shot themselves in the foot when they made dark chip 4 a Mitsubishi exclusive. Samsung was finally getting their LED sets up to snuff and then lost the incentive to keep improving them.
Anyway you slice it, DLP is still some crazy good technology even though it seems to have a somewhat small niche.

even tho like the cmnt above said. DLP rear is kinda of a dying breed. this would make such a amazing tv. i mean from movies to gaming to what ever. you want it for. it would just make things look amazing. there is only one place in austin texas that has the 4k right now. but wow, it looks just amazing

Man could my theathre ever use this. Our projectors are looking so grainy and old up in Vernon, BC, Canada. Zero 3d screens too so movies like My Blood Valentine were just blurry since they still played the 3d version.

You need to check out the new Runcos. even the under 10K units look amazing. YOu have to get to 24 inches viewing distance before you can see any grain. I have an RS 900 on a 45 x 80 screen and it is amazing.

DLP is great for front projection. But man, can anyone even stand to look at a DLP RPTV? Yuk.
