So disappointed, limited to only 50 season passes, slow navigation, easy to hit the wrong button and get totally lost, hard to find the show to record (seems to default to on demand shows first) records shows on channels I don't even receive. The HD picture is super and have fallen in love w/ HD picture but still record on TiVo upstairs because more than once the DTV DVR has missed a recording or doesn't recognize a series. It also lacks the info feature in Tivo w/ show numbers so that we can play them in order. 2010 just can't come soon enough...

mt granny

Comments on DirecTV HD TiVo actually not due until 2010

What mix-up? The Twitter PR twit simply regurgitated DirecTV's most recent press release on the issue, which was out-of-date. I'm on my second DirecTv Tivo box (Samsung SIR-S4040R) and I still love it. I've been waiting for an HD version to be released, but now I think I'll pass. Two reasons:

1. The availability of shows online. Only non-network shows I watch are on FX, and therefore are generally available on Hulu with a 1 week delay. I've got a PC with Media Center, 2 HD tuners, an OTA antenna, and an Xbox. I'll be ok with the network shows in HD.

2. DirecTv's move to "lease only" equipment. So I can't walk into a store and buy a receiver, I have to rent one from them (indefinitely) and either return it to them or pay a ridiculous fee at termination. I bought my first unit discounted with contract, it took a lightning strike and I replaced it via Ebay for $40 (plus DirecTv's $50 in fees for access cards and equipment change).

Corey

Comments on DirecTV HD TiVo actually not due until 2010

As with everything DTV talks about this will be Dec 2010 at the earliest.

JD

Comments on DirecTV HD TiVo actually not due until 2010

dec, 2010, damn not even the start of the year. darn.

mitchelljd

Comments on DirecTV HD TiVo actually not due until 2010

No worries for me after reading that DirecTV is testing dual line buffers (DLB) for it's current crop of DVRs.

That's the main advantage remaining for Tivo....the ability to switch back and forth between two paused shows, like sporting events, so you can fast forward through commercials and boring parts.

I'll probably stop waiting for the new Tivo when this upgrade comes out and go for the newer equipment, which includes the ability to run two satellite feeds into your home over one cable.

Kumar

Comments on DirecTV HD TiVo actually not due until 2010

not having DLB in the DTV HD DVR was a HUGE shock, it never crossed my mind that it wouldn't have DLB!!! i sooo miss my tivo.

Kurt

Comments on DirecTV HD TiVo actually not due until 2010

I've never used a Tivo, but their current DVRs are excellent.
