Ever since
FSN made it's
24/7 HD for 2009 proclamation futbol fans have wanted to know if that applies to them too, and the Goal
soccer blog on the
New York Times has the news on what to expect as the UEFA Champions League comes to Fox. Fox Sports International VP David Sternberg let it be known that Fox Soccer Channel isn't going to be high definition until the end of this year, so don't expect any FSC games in HD until February 2010. The good news? After the wait, we can expect broadcasts of proper HD feeds, rather than upconverted widescreen SD feeds seen sometimes on ESPN.They do plan 16 live games on FSN, plus the 2010 final on FX, while broadband viewers can expect streaming from Setanta, so if FSC isn't on your lineup yet, there can still be some HD of the Beautiful Game in your future.

Please. Its "Football" or "Soccer", you're speaking English here, can we stop right now this annoying thing about calling it "Futbol". I'm a football fan, I'm happy that Americans call the game Soccer, but "Futbol" pushing me into a blind rage.

You know... I really wish we Americans didn't call the sport soccer. You play with soley with your feet and the only person to touch the damn ball is the goalie..
As opposed to "American" football, where it really has nothing to do with the feet. Its a variant of rugby... which is a variant of the "real" football (or soccer, in the states...). "American football" should really be called soccer and soccer should really be called football.
It sickens me just about as much as using the English system for measurements. Base 10 makes so much more sense the inches and feet... ugh.
Call me unpatriotic or whatever the hell else... but maybe I'm just more "patriotic" or "American" by trying to promote the better way.

American's use the term Soccer because what the British call Football is really "Association Football" and Rugby is really "Rugby Football". We just took the "soc" from Association and added an "er" to get Soccer.
The real surprising thing: American Football is actually a variant of Canadian football, which was a variant of Rugby Football. American's originally played Association football, but when our colleges went to play Canadian colleges, they were playing based off of Rugby Football rules. So the American colleges switched rules and thus began the evolution to American Football (which I like to call Handegg).

lol, handegg! I wonder if the sport would be just as popular if it was called handegg. Monday Night Handegg!

It is too bad we will have to settle watching Arsenal win the Champions League and FA Cup in Standard Definition this year.
