If you want your
MTV HD you can get it, and BET HD, CMT HD, Comedy Central HD, Nickelodeon HD, Spike TV HD and VH1 HD on
DISH Network. Thanks to a new deal with
Viacom, all those HD feeds were announced today as available to all subscribers at no extra cost. Also included? Video on-demand and Internet streaming rights that senior VP Dave Shull had no problem claiming as a testament to DISH's "continued HD leadership" while also asserting its HD supremacy. BET HD is available on the Classic Silver 200 HD package and up, while all the rest are on the Classic Bronze 100 lineup.

Of course, the press release doesn't mention that "Turbo HD" customers are mostly left out in the cold (again) on this upgrade. I have the high-end Turbo HD Gold package + the "Platinum" extras and only received access to Comedy Central, Spike, and CMT. While I don't really care about the other channels, it seems odd that their "100% Pure HD" packages include less than 100% of their HD channels...

Word. How does this make any sense?
Nick @ Apr 10th 2009 7:32PM
Bout damn time they added these channels.

Supremacy?
Directv has had those channels for a year.
And "available to all subscribers at no extra cost" ?
All subs had a big price increase 2 months ago but not all of those got all the channels.

I'm still ticked over the whole dust-up with Voom networks and their 15+ channels of HD that I had then I didn't. It's about time Dish starts offering HD channels that U-verse and almost ALL other providers have had for some time now. I'm still also waiting for SPEED HD. What gives with that??!! NASCAR is about the biggest thing going now and they don't have that HD channel even in their "Platinum" package?! If the U-verse guy could have got his thumb out of his butt, I would have switched to that service because of the better programming package and far cheaper price, but AT&T are still trying to figure out how to install U-verse without a big problem....Oh well....*sigh*

I see what you did with that photo!
Supremacy // Bourne!
Isn't that really from 'The Aquitaine Progression?'
End of Transmission.

servo_fan @ Apr 11th 2009 12:45AM
Still like Dish, but when are we getting FX HD? With Rescue Me back on I'm really wanting it.
Denny @ Apr 11th 2009 1:46AM
when are these channels coming to FiOS??
S4Rs @ Apr 11th 2009 5:49PM
Seriously. How about AMC HD too so i can watch Mad Men and Breaking Bad.
nathan @ Apr 11th 2009 1:39PM
"available to all subscribers at no extra cost"
Someone should probably tell the CSRs this. Apparently my all HD package package doesn't include these channels.
CraigK @ Apr 11th 2009 12:16PM
That does seem unfair that those who choose the TurboHD packages, like us, aren't getting access to all these new HD channels. We'd like to have VH1 HD for some Best Week Ever laughs and Nick HD to add to the kids choices. I might call just to find out what the reason is behind it. Does anyone already know why?
nathan @ Apr 11th 2009 1:44PM
We longtime subscribers to the old HD packages can get them -- if we are willing to pay up for one of the new HD packages.
Why can't we get them without that? Dish wants the $$$$.
KeegdnaB @ Apr 11th 2009 8:01PM
Come on U-Verse, get your ass in gear. I need HD South Park already
klydefrogg @ Apr 13th 2009 12:10PM
I've got Dish Bronze + Dish Bronze HD... all channels showed up in my list as promised. Have they started producing spongebob in HD?
Joel @ Apr 13th 2009 2:15PM
- Nickelodeon HD in their bronze package = Awesome
- Nick Jr. ( I have a 1 year old son) becomes it's own channel in September , replacing Noggin which is in the Silver package and not available in HD = Very Not Awesome
Nick @ Apr 13th 2009 10:19PM
As a Dish absolute HD subscriber I am being told that I should be getting MTV and VH1 HD channels. However according to my programming guide these are subscription only channels. Dish pinged my receiver and had me restart it but no luck.
I've gotten this info from 2 operators so far.
In the All HD list they show up as channel 9507 and 9484 respectively.
I will let you guys know.
IronSheik @ Jul 6th 2009 9:03PM
so what happened cuz im in the same boat?
Tony @ Apr 14th 2009 1:11AM
I'm having the same issue... I have the Gold HD package and the Platinum HD package and I cannot get MTV in HD... I especially want this for Sundays when Fantasy Factory and Nitro Circus are on.
I'm not going to waste my time calling in... if anyone figures out how to get these channels I would love to hear about it...

No response from Charlie. Their silence is deafening. I guess we will have to make good on our threat to ABANDON DISH for DirecTV. DirecTV seems to get it. Charlie is making another clueless blunder after promising Dish subscribers 150 HD channels. He is no where near that number.
The clock is ticking Charlie, act now.
