New Jersey sues Verizon over deceptive FiOS practices
Verizon Communications has just been slapped with a lawsuit from New Jersey's Attorney General, who alleges that the company engaged in "deceptive and misleading" sales, billing and customer service practices related to its FiOS services. Mind you, this is far from the first time we've heard outrage over poor FiOS service, but Verizon New Jersey president Dennis Bone asserts that the majority of the issues raised by the attorney general are "related primarily to the start-up of the FiOS business nearly two years ago in New Jersey and have been largely addressed." Of course, just because things are sailing smoothly now doesn't mean that justice shouldn't be served, but we will concur that we've heard far less grumbling of late compared to years ago. Who knew offering up free TVs to get folks to sign up would lead to this much turmoil?

The only gripe that we have with FiOS TV is that were got the premium movie channels free for three months and were told that we'd be called at three months to as if we wanted to stay with them for their regular price. They never called us, so we got hit with the price of HBO, Skinemax, and others that we won't watch. It's nothing that a call to customer service won't fix though.
Of course, we weren't offered a flat-screen TV. Bastards.

Their billing system sucks...period.
Make any change to your service and watch how bad it gets.
Every frakking time I've done it it's resulted in 3 to 4 calls to complain of billing errors.
And in the end it's so muffed up you know you're still overpaying somewhere but it's not worth it to keep complaining, because you get nowhere.
Amazingly the 'errors' are always in Verizon's favor. On purpose? Seems so.

AG is running for Gov. This is all campaign BS.

Wrong. The former Federal Attorney is running for Governor. Anne Milgrim, the NJ State Attorney General is a Corzine appointment. His 3rd actually. The first one he appointed had to step down because she felt it was a good idea to run the scene where her boyfriend got a ticket for driving without a license and demanded the officer tear up the ticket. This lady had also lost her license due to traffic violations in the past.
Great pick by Corzine. It showed exactly what we could have expected from him the next 4 years when he made that choice. If he is re-elected, this state is doomed.

Let us not forget incessant TWC ads touting the fact their phone service doesn't load up on extra cost "fees." Remember "Sir Charge?"
When I got their phone service, I noticed 11 "extra cost" fees above and beyond the quoted price for the service. Way more than I''d ever seen with Verizon.

This happened to us last year in Pennsylvania...
When we asked about our voucher for the free TV, we kept getting the run around...
I e-mailed Penn. Verizon Prez and he e-mailed me back ASAP...they credited our account for the $200 voucher and apologized...he agreed that they didn't handle this well and they had some snafus...
What angered us was the treatment by the customer service folks...the Verizon installers were fabulous and I told the Prez so...

Why all the fuss about FiOS?
I've been hearing terrible things about cable since 2000. Hopefully, Verizon can make it's way up the Hudson Valley here in N.Y so I can leave cable behind.
Please, hear my plea and help us get away from these monopolies!

Verizon has been billing us $50-$80 dollars a month via AON services- I believe this is an illegal PONZI scheme whereby AON bills people for looking up phone numbers on Anywho.com or Superpages.com They probably link a person's IP address to thier Verizon phone number & then jack up a bill for unathorized services- someone should start a class-action lawsuit against Verizon for this highly illegal, and deceptive practice- this is totally illegal!
