The only thing I'd really be getting with this is the ability to use Yellow/Blue/Red/Green and the Number keys without having to pull up the on-screen menu with Triangle.

Like me. I have an Xbox 360 for games, so really don't need another game console, especially one with the annoyance of compatibility and functional issues with universal remotes.

If this is reasonably priced ($40 or less for me), I might reconsider the PS3. But with other players finally coming out comparable in performance for less money, it's still a tossup for me.

The problem would be getting those codes loaded into whatever other remote you are trying to use without using the Harmony software. Audio Authority already came out with this - $200 - and it works with ANY universal remote system.

For those of you that do not know what macros are, here is the real reason this is exciting. You can buy a much better remote and program macros into the remote. A macro might do the following as an example.

I can program a macro button called 'Movies' and the button can do the following macros when I click it all automatically and in the order I specify. Also very useful to power everything down fast.
1. Turn on the receiver
2. Switch to video source 2
3. Turn on the projector
4. Lower the screen
5. Dim the lights
6. Turn on the Apple TV for watching movies - better than PS3 :)
7. Switch to THX

I might have another macro button called 'Games'
1. Turn on the receiver
2. Switch to video source 1
3. Turn on the projector
4. Lower the screen
5. Dim the lights
6. Turn on the PS3 for playing games - better than PS3 :)
7. Switch to surround sound

In short this is huge for all of us that want everything done automatically and integrate the PS3 seamlessly in that process. It makes it easier for guests and other family members to enjoy the system, after all they are not all like us - Huh? In short accommodate the !2:00's with one click buttons.

I went with the IR2BT about a year ago and love it. It does all the same things this Logitech one does. It might not look as pretty, but it's been out for much longer and only cost me $60. However, now that IR2BT has updated and jacked up their price, this is the prime time for Logitech to swoop in and take over their previous price-point. I too, wondered why not just include bluetooth into the remote, but then everyone who has already bought the remote, would not have a simpler solution.

Would I be against buying a BT capable Harmony? not at all!
But those who have spent over $100-$200 for a remote already, would not want to upgrade again so soon.

Besides, it seems clear that the party-in-the-wrong is SONY. The short-sighted and penny-pinching move to not include an IR port on the PS3 has created a (well-deserved) furor against Sony. It's obvious that they did this to (1) force you to buy their special remote and (2) save (literally) a few bucks in production costs. This decision was the latest in a long line of force-you-to-waste-more-money moves by Sony.
