I was in a local blockbuster standing next to another couple that were also browsing the Blu-Ray collection. Then, the wife said to the husband, "don't we need a special player to play these discs." The husband said confidently, "no, it should play on our DVD player."
I overheard this and was dumbstruck. How could people be this misinformed? I calmly butted in and told them they needed a blu-ray player to play these discs. The husband gave me a snarky look and I still don't think he believed me.
It shouldn't be *too* shocking. Most non-techie people I know are aware that DVD players can play CDs as well. So you give someone another disc, and it's only fair to assume that if the disc fits, it will play. We all know people like this....
The Husband, knows the disc will work, because he already upgrade the player to blu ray. He just didn't tell his wife because he didn't want to fight about it. :)
