TWC launches 7 new HD channels in Mid-Ohio "legacy areas"
We'd known that Time Warner Cable was planning something special for the heart of Ohio, and now it's official. The carrier itself has proclaimed that seven new high-def options have arrived in "legacy areas" of Mid-Ohio, which pushes the grand total in the area to 58. As of now, viewers in these regions can find CNBC HD (717), ESPNU HD (723), Bravo HD (744), SPEED HD (756), Toon Disney HD (771), SciFi HD (773) and Adult HD (401) in the program guide. In related news, WTTE HD will be relocating to slot 708, WOSU HD will head to slot 707 and WWHO HD will move to channel 713. Happy surfing!

Now if TWC Austin/Central Texas would get off their duffs and roll out SciFi and USA in HD, I'd be happy. I keep seeing it pop up in other markets but not mine.
*grumbles*

Me too. You'd think TWC Austin would want to keep customers after that whole LIN TV/KXAN debacle.

I'd have gone to U-Verse already, but AT&T says my credit score is too low. I just bought a house, so....*shrugs* I'm not locked to TWC, thankfully.

When did "Adult HD" come into existence?

Too bad for marketing purposes 'Over 50' HD channels doesn't sound so great when the satellite and fiber companies claim to have well over 100 HD channels. But for those who really investigate, you'll find little difference where it matters. When it comes to all the major national HD networks, all the providers offer a similar number of channels. But, while cable can offer 30 HD movies on 1 OnDemand channel, for example, satellite will have 30 HD PPV channels for those same 30 movies. Then there's all the Regional Sports Networks (RSN). Each city or regional area may only have access to fewer than a handful of those channels, yet the satellite companies count all the RSNs in their total number of HD channels. The one area area satellite is currently really doing better than cable in, is with premium networks. While the satellite companies offer HD versions of most of the bonus networks, like HBO2, HBO3, etc, most cable providers still just offer the one main channel.
