Hockey fans hanging on the edge of their seat to find out NHL Network's plans for the 2009 All-Star event can finally breathe a sigh of relief. The network has announced its intentions to provide 15 hours of live high-definition coverage surrounding the event, with the last few hours of those 15 containing the All-Star post-game highlights on January 25th. Oddly enough, it looks as if the full gamut of high-def coverage will only be available in the US, even though the game itself is scheduled to be played in Great White North. I'm surprised there is no countdown for when the NHL will fold. It used to be good when it was actually hockey... Now it is just skating with sticks and the ratings prove it.

i love americans. they will sit and watch their beloved nfl team loss every single game in the season, but won't fill the stands at their league-leading nhl team's game. (Detroit if you didnt catch the drift).
NHL is the fastest-moving, most intense sport (not including MMA (not a sport)) that you can watch, and for some reason americans seem to watch football and baseball, nothing else.

Rob - It just goes to show you that people would rather watch a game that they like with a team that sucks than a game that has been neutered to figure skating with a puck, regardless if the team is the best in the league.
FU - I live in "the the" real world of ratings and attendance... try google. Negative numbers before and after the strike. Basketball is in the same boat, just not as "Outdoor Network" close - if you know what I mean. Here's something that should twist your white trash nuts in a knot - They say MLS soccer will surpass both sports in attendance and ratings in the next few years. Time to set your mullet on fire, eh?
Oh, and they can raise ticket prices all they want, it doesn't mean anyone is going to buy them :)
